These things are the worst types of splicers on the market. Sure you don't have to cut the wire, but they're just plain unsafe to use.

Fire hazard or would the fuse blow first? Maybe I need to install a smoke detector to my headliner. Guess that's really not funny.

Now that I'm happy with my pulser location, I'll get around to soldering and heat shrinking the connections.

Well depending on the rated current on the fuse... My wife burned her foot on one of those on our old Hyundai. It could have burned the car up.

brakelight pulser with small mod

I bought the pulser for my '07 MCS and found the same issues with space inside the housing ... so I chose to remove the screw-connect terminal on the edge of the pulser that goes to the LEDs and soldered in a discarded cordless-phone-battery-harness in its place.

This little trick gave me a little extra wire to maneuver with, and allowed me to lay the pulser-board FLAT against the LED bar for most of the length of the pulser, which made for a much better fit inside the housing -- just make sure you match the harness polarity back to the original configuration.

I put the Pulsar (4) in while on my lunch hour at work. I like it. Really makes the braking stand out. Cheap but good looking modification with safety in mind.

Center Brake Pulsar Install Thanks!!

Thank you sooo much "JMike". Your post on 9-17-07 saved my sanity after installing the pulsar today. Couldn't get it to fit under the molding no matter what I tried. THEN I looked at this thread and there was the answer. Fit right in and so did the molding! BTW, brake pulsars were first used on motorcycles in the '70's. They really work and if they "annoy" the car behind, tough! They're supposed to make that tail-gating troglodyte pay attention.

I just installed two this morning -- one each in my and my better-half's MINIs. Took about an hour total time, with a little time spent soldering the supplied wire extensions to the factory connector. I found that the flasher unit fits inside the trim piece a little easier with the wires lengthened.

The flashers are working great. Can't wait to see if I'm tailgated less in traffic.
