The last full weekend of September there is a really nice Apple Festival in Gays Mills, WI. It is absolutely beautiful to see all the leaves change color and there are a lot of nice roads up there.
Anyone interested in hooking up and going on Sunday? That is the best day of the festival and they have a parade and a giant flea market also, along with about 10 apple orchards with fresh cider and fresh cider doughnuts all the way.
My little town (Warren, IL) has the Pumpkin Festival the same weekend if anyone is interested in coming out Saturday. It is a small town though, so don't expect much.

This is a great suggestion a wonderful idea; unfortunately, we already have an EIM group event planned for Sunday, Sept 26th down in Riverside, IA (it's a rescheduled outing that was originally going to be held in July...[original posting]). We'll have a new thread posted on this upcoming event within the next few days.
Notwithstanding, the subject of the Gays Mills Apple Festival actually came up in conversation a few weeks ago during one of our group drives -- when the Cassville Ferry closed on us due to high water levels on the Mississippi. We thought that planning a drive with the ferry might work better later in the year when there would be less likelihood of high water. Combining it with the Apple Festival was suggested as a possible sanctioned club event to put on our calendar for 2011. How does that sound to you?
Even with the Riverside event, that still leaves Saturday free -- maybe a few of us just might take you up on your offer and head out your way. Both festivals sound like fun!

Well, honestly, ours is kinda blah.....Maybe we should do Gays Mills on Saturday? Let me talk to the Wife and we'll get everything figured out and let us know what you would rather do. If someone wants to head out this way, we'd be more than happy to let you meet up at our place. We've got enough room for about 8 MINIs in our circle drive.
Maybe more....

Let me know as both of these sound like a lot of fun and maybe my re-flooring of my house will be complete by then and I may actually <gasp> have time!!

I think I could go on this run and make the Riverside meet! I am having serious MINI withdrawals! My only problem is that I may not have time to clean my car before this. Will I be thrown out of the group if I bring a dirty car??
We are on a short fuse for hosting a family visit that day, so our attendance is still up in the air. If the visitors don't come, we will most definitely go.
That said...my better half has her eyes affixed firmly on the city-wide rummage sale and the flea market as mandatory activities, meaning that cargo space will be at a premium. It is highly likely that if we do attend, we would show up in the Subie towing the trailer and not in Shadowfax (gasp ). Sometimes, sacrifices must be made...
We hope that our MINI friends who happen to be there will still be on speaking terms with us.

There's a flea market and garage sales?! Wow. I should look at the info. I for sure am going to go now.
And sure come in the Subie! My MINI will be very dirty so if we all just squint our eyes maybe Gozer won't look dirty and the Subaru will resemble a MINI
Well, so far we have to confirmed MINIs going. Myself and deanman. We are planning on leaving from Holy Cross at 9:00 a.m. I found a route that takes us across the river at Prairie du Chein. And we pick up WI 151 at Wauzeka. It looks like a fun, twisty road!
