The Eastern Iowa MINIs are holding another Meet-n-Eat at Sonic in Coralville on May 23rd. (Time TBD)
We'll all be getting together to enjoy some tasty Sonic Burgers, Chicken, Hot Dogs whatever is to your liking..don't forget the Sonic BLASTS Though! Gonna potentially need some ice cream to cool off!
If you think you can make it that day please RSVP on the calendar link once it is setup so I can get some numbers for how much room we'll need at Sonic: EIM Sonic Meet-n-Eat
I will post up the time as soon as I have the info available. Thank you!
Thanks Rob! I've added my name to the calendar link.
This is sort of a "classic" EIM gathering. If you look at the Gallery on the EIM website, you'll see that the very first entry is the Sonic meet back on August 31, 2007 -- where the first seeds of the idea of establishing an Eastern Iowa MINIs group were planted!

May 22-24 is also the start of the MINI Turns 50 celebration in Great Britain. We need to eat or drink something British, or wave a flag, or something.
Wow, since it's Memorial Day weekend Sonic is not to receptive to having us. They don't want us tying up the stalls on their busy day along with them being understaffed that weekend apparently due to high school graduations...So I have to talk to their regional manager about when is a good time for us to come. Didn't think it'd be that big of deal but I'll keep you all posted.

So let me get this straight...they'd rather have fewer customers??

They said they welcomed the business but they would have a lot of traffic through there anyways, so they couldn't afford to have us tying up stalls..Sounds like it just a really bad weekend for them but we'll see what the regional manager has to say.
What's the name of that little mall over by P&G? They used to have classic cars displayed there once a month. There are several restaurants adjacent that we could use to grab a bite, then take a mini MINI tour someplace.
Okoboji Grill (lately I haven't been happy with there food quality)
Jimmy Jacks Rib Shack (some of the best ribs and pulled pork I have had)
Pizza Ranch (buffet style pizza and salads)
Oyama Sushi (Sushi, oriental)
Eldorado Mexican (Classic TexMex)
Panera (Breads, sandwiches, salads, and coffees)
The car show at sycamore is the last Friday or Saturday of each month at 5:00 PM I believe Thinking Saturday but again not positive.
Yeah, I hate to ditch out on the Sonic location but really if they aren't welcoming the business then why should we give it to them. I'd be up for some Jimmy Jacks if you want me to give them a call and see if they'll take us
I'm voting for Jimmy Jacks! That's across the street from the mall parking lot, isn't it? It sure would be nice if we could all park together and walk over.
Rob, if and when you get a commitment from them you can crank up a new announcement thread. At that time I will change the NAM calendar entry and send emails to everyone who's already RSVP'ed for Sonic to make them aware of the change.

Just got off the phone with Jimmy Jacks and they were more than willing to have us. Just said they don't take reservations and their rush hour for lunch ends around1:30. they have indoor and outdoor seating so we should all be able to sit and eat and have a good time there. I'll post up a new thread with our new location and time.
