EIM "Meet and S-cream, Part Deux" - 7/12 in Tiffin
The waters have subsided; Noah has kicked the last animal off the ark, the Mariner has deciphered the tatto map on little Enola's back and has headed south on the Iowa River looking for the never-seen Dryland, and so...
...it's time for ice cream again!
The plan is the same as our previously scheduled Meet and S-cream. Our destination will be Jons Ice Cream Store and Restaurant in Tiffin, IA (just a stones throw NW of Coralville on Hwy 6) on Saturday, July 12th. Good food and renowned ice cream, plus a good sized parking lot where we can congregate and show off our MINIs.
As before, we will plan on meeting at Jons at 11:30 am for a leisurely lunch and ice cream. Afterward, we'll do a quick motor out to Kent Park and do a scenic parade as we circumnavigate the lake on the perimeter road (see attached map). Finally, we'll park as a group in the lot next to the beach (probably about 1:30 pm), and everyone can go wade, swim, hike trails, fish, detail their MINI, sleep off the ice cream, etc., from there.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

"Great soft serve ice cream, sandwiches, and some Mexican specialties. Pottery for sale from trailer out front. An interesting place."

But, we shall be in Albuquerque that week-end. We (and Cool Blue) are motoring by way of the High Desert around Ft. Davis, TX, Carlsbad, NM, weekend at Albuquerque, high mountains through Los Alamos, Taos and Canon City, CO.
We will find out how a long road trip works out. (besides packing lightly).

Other takers for ice cream in Tiffin next Saturday? So far, confirmations from D3m0N, Miah34, 05MINI, and Gil-galad. I think there were others who said last week in Clarence that they might come. More may be hiding somewhere out there in the corn...

I am looking forward to it also! It sounds like the temp. should be about 80. Great day for a drive. Of course, everyday is a great day when I'm driving my Baby!
I just wish we had less potholes to deal with in eastern Iowa at the moment and with driving going down the tax to support the roads is also going down ='s worse and worse roads
Well Walt still isn't done, his last part didn't come in today so we won't get him back till next week. As far as I know we'll be there for some ice cream anwyays.
I will also have EIM Decals for those who wanted them. $3.50 a piece available in white and black.
Another fun MINI event! Always a good time with MINI people. Here are a few pictures which don't do the event justice, but it might bring back memories: http://picasaweb.google.com/deanman2/IceCream
deanman, you're way too humble...you take great pics! And such funny captions! Thanks for capturing the day for posterity. Maybe Handsome Rob can download them sometime and add them to the website gallery.
I enjoyed seeing everyone again today, and it was neat getting a look at Kent Park for the first time. Not too crowded on a summer weekend; seems like a great place for a picnic. Man, would it be great to let 'er rip on that perimeter road! (I wonder how expensive the fine would be for doing 60 in a 15 mph zone? )
05MINI -- glad you could join us today. You definitely belong in our group, it's clear you have the "MINI fever" bad! Luv that purple MCS.

[Oh, and I'll start a separate, dedicated thread about the Holy Cross parade and BBQ on the 9th. Looks like fun!]

I'll get those pictures from Darryl gallery and my own photos up on eim as soon as I can. It was good to see everyone even if we were MINIless for the event.
I do often wonder when driving that perimeter road what the fine would be..that road is way to fun.
In any case, it was good to meet you 05MINI, glad to see you out and sporting that fine MINI modding fever
