13th Annual Clarence Lincoln Highway Festival Car Cruise & Show - June 28th
Calling all MINIs!
Saturday, June 28th -- save the date!
Jen VanOort of the Clarence Lincoln Highway Committee has extended an personal invitation to Eastern Iowa MINIs to be part of their 13th Annual Clarence Lincoln Highway Festival Car Cruise and Show. The Festival in its entirety takes place over the weekend of June 27-29. The Car Cruise and Show is being held Saturday evening, June 28th from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm.
The Car Show begins at 5:30 pm at the Clarence City Park, with the Cruise starting at 6:30 pm. The Cruise will include a variety of classic and unique vehicles (highlighted by our MINIs, of course!). The cars then return to the park and are welcomed back to continue the show and invited to enjoy the rest of the evening's festivities including live music, supper by Cedar County Cattlemen, Fear Factor competition, and much more, all concluding with a fabulous fireworks extravaganza!
Here's a link to the Festival website, where you can also see the complete Schedule of Events for the whole weekend and a street map of the Car Cruise route:
I hope we can rally a big turnout of Iowa MINIs--even some from our neighboring clubs--for this event. What a great chance to show off our MINIs to the locals and enjoy everything else that the Festival has to offer too. It should be a blast!
[Please post a reply in this thread (or a comment on the EIM website) so we can anticipate our numbers. ]

however there website is confusing as heck about the dates 27 - 29th but the car show starts on the 30th of june and another day on the 30th of July for 2 years ago
Looks like they forgot to update their graphics labels on that page of the website...
Anyway, you can trust the information in my first post for dates/times--they're right off the invitation. The Car Show and Cruise are most definitely on Saturday evening, which is the 28th.
Glad you can make it! I hope we get a big turnout!

we need to make sure the Iowa MINI's from the Clinton / Davenport / Moline / Cordova areas all know about this
I know there and a few MINI's in each of those communities
Also I need to start taging here in IC and Coralivlle as the day you guys were leaving the Chinese place here I saw 3 MINI's 2 Convertables and 1 Hard top
The population of MINI's is about 3 fold from a year ago I would guess
I would guess those statistics are pretty close to what's happening in Cedar Rapids, too. While waiting (impatiently) for a red light, 3 MINIs went by.

Dad had his dates confused- Both of us & Martin James will be able to come to this, but I can't go to the Ice Cream meet because Mom & i will be in Washington D.C! But I think Dad is planning on going
I've attached an excerpt from the recent Clarence Community Newsletter, courtesy of Jen from the CLHF Committee. It contains a detailed schedule of the whole three-day festival, including our car cruise and show on Saturday evening, June 28th. Looks like there's lots of other fun things to do.

What is the best way to get other MINIs involved do you think? Should I send out a notice that links them to this site? Or, just link them to the flyer, or what?
I know I'm planning to show up mid-afternoon and try to find someplace local to wash off the bugs...maybe even before 2:00 so I can take advantage of the pork lunch.
Since the Car Cruise lineup is at 5:30, it might be good for the MINIs to meet up nearby at around 5:15 pm. We can chat, do some last minute spiffying, and line ourselves up so we are together at the start point. Maybe the corner of 1st Ave and US-30 (across from the park) would be an okay spot.

Does the route from Decorah to Clarence take you through CR or IC? If so, maybe some of us can meet you as you pass through. If you don't come this way I hope to see you for lunch in Clarence on Saturday. I posted the reminder to the Yahoo people yesterday. I'm pretty sure Larry and Pam are going.
I suspect I'll be motoring down IA-13 on my way to E48 and US-30 East, probably passing by east of Marion about noon. I'd enjoy hooking up with other interested MINIs as I'm passing through.
So far, here are those who have provided feedback to me that they are planning on attending the festival:

(a blue MINI or two and our lineup would really look patriotic! )

Sadly it won't be me
We have a trip to Ikea (Schaumburg) planned for this weekend. If I ever get this house remodel done, friend and relative visits finished, I'll be ready to Motor On !
Have a great weekend. See you down the road!
I have to work at the hospital until 3:30 but will plan on leaving for Clarence when I get off work.
