Yep, Iowa MINIs and good eating never go out of style...
Announcing the next Eastern Iowa MINIs group Meet-n-Eat, which we are calling a "Meet and S-cream" given the fact that our meeting place will be Jons Ice Cream Store and Restaurant in Tiffin, IA (just a stones throw NW of Coralville on Hwy 6) on Saturday, June 14th. Good food and renowned ice cream, plus a good sized parking lot where we can congregate and show off our MINIs.
Let's plan on meeting at Jons at 11:30 am for a leisurely lunch and ice cream. Afterward, we'll do a quick motor out to Kent Park and do a scenic parade as we circumnavigate the lake on the perimeter road (see attached map). Finally, we'll park as a group in the lot next to the beach (probably about 1:30 pm), and everyone can go wade, swim, hike trails, fish, detail their MINI, sleep off the ice cream, etc., from there.
A delightful, easy-going, and fun afternoon. Hope you can make it!

"Great soft serve ice cream, sandwiches, and some Mexican specialties. Pottery for sale from trailer out front. An interesting place."

Wilton, IA has a neat "old" soda fountain that Pam and I have stopped at before... For you of the "older" generation, they have Green Rivers and Cherry Coke's in addition to sundaes. All the equipment is old, old, old. The owner is a hoot!

Thanks Larry -- we'll definitely put that on our list for a future gathering!
(I didn't know you had a NAM account -- now you'll never escape!)

I hope the flooding and gas prices aren't going to be too troublesome for our Saturday event. I've never been to Jons in Tiffin, but I can't imagine it will be hard to find.
EIM folks, with the flooding and road conditions the way they are between Decorah and Iowa City I do not expect to make it to Tiffin on Saturday. I will probably devote the time instead to helping with local clean-up efforts.
I hope that those who are able to make it have an enjoyable time. Please stay dry and safe!
