Date: Saturday, March 22
Time: Rendezvous at 11:00 am
Venue: Granite City - 4755 1st Ave SE, Cedar Rapids (Adjacent to Lindale Mall)
Purpose: Celebrate the coming of Spring , get reacquainted after the long, snowy winter, enjoy good food and company, and share information on upcoming motoring events and plans
The restaurant opens at 11:00 so if we arrive then, we should be able to find a good area to park together in the lot and a good place to sit together to talk about all things MINI. This is the day prior to Easter, so hopefully there are lots of open calendars out there.
Please post a reply in this thread (or comment on the EIM website) so we'll know who's coming.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and their MINIs again!

What a great idea and such a good place. Maybe they will have the outdoor patio open. Count me in. A tall stout will definitely be in order.

So far it looks like we will have 10 cars and were still a week and a half away from the date. Sounds like a real good turnout for the first of the year. Hopefully we will be able to get everyone parked next to each other.

I was getting the MINI washed today at Sparkle Touch on 1st Ave in Cedar Rapids (owners have a MINI) and as I was leaving another Dark Silver was pulling into the place. I have seen this one multiple times and went over to talk to him. I told him about the even next saturday and he said he would try to make it.

I will be showing up with a freshly clayed, polished and waxed MINI
You're cruel dude...we got 4" of snow up here today. With the wet and scurvy roads, by the time I arrive my PW/B will look like it's been spray painted gray...

I agree! MINI people are the nicest people there are. I hope we can have lots of fun together this summer. I REALLY like the idea of regular gatherings.
Really enjoyed meeting everyone at the event today and plan to make every effort to come to future events!
We attended the Clubman launch at Motorwerks a couple weeks ago and met some of the Sota MINIs people. They mentioned a fall event they wanted to try to get multi-state attendance. Here is an excerpt of the description and a link. The date does conflict with the planned Fall MINI drive on Oct 11th.
The SotaMINIs Fall Foliage Foray into the Far Forrest will be held Oct 10-12th 2008 at the Group Center at Whitewater State Park in Southern Mini-sota. We have reserved the whole thing. It is a wonderful place that holds 132 people!! We want to fill the joint! Because it is in southern Mini-sota I want everyone from WI, IL, IA and any of the other surrounding states to come. The price for the weekend will be extremely low. Like $10.00 per night per person or so.

Hey gang, I really enjoyed seeing all of the ol' MINI mates today and making some great new friends too. We had a fantastic turnout and a nice lineup of super sharp MINIs. The food at Granite City was superb, and the company even better. Thanks to all for coming out!
I'm including a link to some pics from today. I'll have Rob help me get these posted over on the Eastern Iowa MINIs website. I will also upload an e-copy of the events sheet that was circulated today into the "Event Ideas" thread in this NAM forum within the next day or two so you can take advantage of the embedded links.

Yes! Great fun meeting everyone and seeing all the sharp looking Minis.
But, about 3:30 we were between CR & Ia Cty and saw the blue R53 sitting in the median w/flashers on. Hope it was nothing serious. Any word on this?
