Just a "heads up" for some possible MINI fun in May. Some of the Des Moines MINIs are heading to Milwaukee to see a show and will overnite in Galena. The date isn't locked in yet, but they are planning to be in Galena on May 9. It would be fun to join them for at least the Galena stop.

Thanks for alerting us to this. It would be fun to hook up with these folks; they've been pretty good about showing up at the events we've hosted.
It'd be great if you could monitor their planning and supplement this thread with the details as they emerge. Those of us who aren't on the Yahoo! list rely heavily on "double-dippers" like you and D3m0N to keep the lines of communication open. We can subsequently transfer the info over to our website too.

May MINI Trip East
A fun weekend is being planned for May 9 and 10 by the Des Moines area MINI folks. Plans are to leave Des Moines at 10 am on Friday, May 9 and have lunch with MINI friends in Iowa City at noon. The scenic route to Galena, IL will take us through the Quad Cities and yet undetermined fun stops. We’ll have dinner and ?? in Galena on Friday evening. On Saturday, we’ll head to Milwaukee for the Prairie Home Companion show at 4:30 ($55), or the Wicked show in Chicago at 2:00 ($80). We’d like to have dinner together in Milwaukee on Saturday night, but each participant can choose his or her own itinerary. We’ll have the exact meet-up times for Des Moines, Iowa City, Quad Cities, Milwaukee, and Chicago posted in the near future. Please join in for part of the trip at any point, or enjoy the whole event!
Deanman: I'm keenly interested in the first day's planned events -- joining the group in Iowa City for lunch, motoring over to Galena, and participating in the dinner there. I'd likely bail at that point and either head home that night or the following morning.

If you do indeed come to Milwaukee, please do keep the Milwaukee MINIS in the loop as we'd love to join you for dinner that evening. I'd be happy to make some restaurant & hotel recommendations, and we can post any details then on http://www.milwaukeeMINIS.com so that our group could come and give you a great Milwaukee welcome.

Those starting out in Des Moines are asked to meet at Firkin & Fox at 9 AM on Friday, May 9. Linda and Janis will be your hospitable caravan leaders to Coralville. Those joining the fun in Coralville are asked to meet the DM travelers in the parking lot next to the Chinese Buffet on the corner of First Avenue and Hwy 6 at 11:30. Lots of dining options are available on that corner if you don’t want the buffet. We’ll leave Coralville promptly at 12:30 and head for Davenport, where we’ll stop near the intersection of I 80 and US 61 at 1:30, and head north at 1:45. We’ll arrive in Galena at 3:15 for an afternoon of shopping and merry-making. Dinner reservations will be made for 6 PM. The evening hours are available for more fun. Those traveling east the following day will make arrangements for that leg of the trip, and those returning home will be bid farewell.

you may want to leave a bit more time at Cracker Barrel it is about 1:15 just to get there and you may want to give a 15 minute window for the Quad City MINI's should there be any

Mr. G, I wanted to take a "scenic" route to Galena, but I found out some of the shops close at 5, and a few of our MINI friends have never been there, and the shops are part of the fun. So, we're going to take the direct route, which I think is I80 to Davenport, then 61 to Dubuque, then cross the river.
