Hey Jim, long time no see...good to hear from you!
The NAM Moderators will be after you unless you use the dedicated Marketplace forum to make your sale. I think there's one dedicated to wheels and tires. Check out the leading sticky for guidelines on making your listing; believe there are a few simple rules.

Hey guys, MidnightDave here, will be CR/IA City/Kalona area this weekend for niece/nephew graduation parties, won't have MINICHI, though, I'll be in a Mazda6 rental--so, if you see a bald guy in one waving enthusiastically and honking, it's me, forgetting once again I'm not in my MINI! ;-) Here she is at the BMW Performance Center in SC.
This rooster is near the Dragon, and it kinda reminded me of something you'd see in IA! ;-)
You guys enjoy the nice spring/summer driving and keep it rubber side down...

I had the pleasure of welcoming another new local enthusiast to Eastern Iowa MINIs today. She located us via the website.
She's from the Holy Cross area (remember that really nice, scenic stretch of US-52 west of Dubuque with all of the twisties and sweepers?), owns a 2005 Purple Haze MCS (cool color, and a vintage year IMHO!), and is anxious to hook up with the group at the next workable opportunity.
I also think she'll emerge here with a NAM identity sometime soon, so when she does we can give her a proper EIM welcome.

Enthusiastic EIM greetings and salutations to 05MINI! See you in Tiffin on the 12th; really looking forward to meeting you and can't wait to see your PH/W MCS!

Sorry Maria...I didn't see your question in this thread until today...
On the roster I'm maintaining for our group, as of today I list 30 MINIs and 39 people who have actively sought to join EIM or have participated in one or more of our locally sponsored events. Of these, I have full contact and MINI information for 23 MINIs (for a few, I only have email addresses or NAM names).
When we first decided to formally establish EIM 11 months ago at our first meet in Dubuque, we had 4 MINIs and 5 people. I'd say we've done pretty well since then.

A very warm welcome ball, and thanks for posting! If you PM me with your email address, I'll make sure you receive updates on our events and plans.
My brother and his family live in Osky...I know it well!

I nearly made an impulsive buy 2 weeks ago. 09 MINI Clubman, Pepper White, auto, premium, cold weather, xenons, leather interior, just awesome and so fun to drive I could not believe it!. What held me back was living 3 hours from the nearest dealer in Kansas City. How do MINI owners deal with oil changes, breakdowns, warranty issues and continue to live in Des Moines, Iowa?

I imagine most of the Des Moines area folks head over to Markel MINI in Omaha, which is only about a two-hour drive. Most of the people in eastern IA head over to Schaumburg or Naperville just west of Chicago. As for me, the closest dealer is Motorwerks MINI in Minneapolis, just a bit over two hours away. Most of the IA locals to whom I've talked seem pretty satisfied with the work at all of these dealerships.
Can't speak for anyone else but I've found the distance not inconvenient at all. I have reasons to be in the city much more often than the MINI maintenance schedule demands, so I can always incorporate planned work into a trip for other purposes. Also, I don't know of anyone local who's having to run over to have frequent corrective work done -- I suppose if I was nursing a lemon along I might have a different opinion. For the couple of people that I'm aware have had a non-drivable maintenance issue, I think MINI was very responsive with their flat-bedding service.

Wife and I just came home with a new MCS and we love it. I'm already looking at doing some tinkering and basic performance mods.
Our next door neighbor just brought home a pepper white MCS clubman. It blew her away when she saw us pull up with ours since she had been looking at them for months and was ready to make the move the day we bought ours. Twilight zone stuff, ehh!
And now my parents in Davenport want one, as soon as their 2000 BMW Z3 sells, they are off to Chicago to pick up a MINI.
Anyway, maybe we'll meet some EIM's at a future event.
A fellow enthusiast.

We live downtown in Des Moines. We recently purchased a well-cared for 04, one-owner hardtop with 50K miles. Have read some things (on this site) about CVT trannies in MINIs which is causing us to rethink our earlier decision to pass on the extended warranty (at least for the drivetrain). Are MINI CVTs as problematic as stated, or is this just a vocal minority? Are CVT transmissions repairs really as pricey as $7-8K? Do most extended warranties provide adequate repair/replacement coverage for this? We LOVE this car, but this is keeping me up at night. Thanks!
