Ooooo -- I'm liking this. I shrank it down fairly small on the screen and the text was still legible. I bet it would be even better on hard stock.
Oldsbear has cog on the cards. I hope you and he can engage in a PM dialog to share ideas. The goal for these cards is to be openly inviting to potential group members and at least initially, point them to our NAM forum. If you were an anonymous MINI owner and found one under your wiper blade, what would cajole you into trying to connect with the group?
I'm glad there's a wealth of creative people around here!

I do my ordering through www.overnightprints.com for business cards and when I uploaded it to their system it looked pretty good.
In any case hit me up with PM's people if you want to use this design or want to see anything else I have up my sleeve or if you want me to grab the domain name. Off to play some World Of Warcraft for now
Why not just Iowa MINI's instead of slicing and dicing the place up
Well, there's many reasons but the the most important one--and the only one that really matters--is that it is the consensus desire of the people who have formed this group to call themselves "Eastern Iowa MINIs."
Why is this? Certainly it is not to be noninclusive. IMHO (i.e., not speaking for the group from this point on), I think folks feel like they can stay better connected to each other within the finite geographic area. "Eastern Iowa" is, of course, a well used monikor in our part of the state, used by all of the news channels and even in the naming of the CID regional airport. I think you will also see maintenance of close ties to our MINI brethren in the Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago groups (to wit: the recent Galena and HHH events) because of the wealth of excellent motoring roads available in NW IL and SW WI. I can't imagine too many Omaha-area folks trekking that far for all but a few special events. For my part, I'm perfectly happy to let the existing Yahoo!-based MINI group take the lead in representing the interests of MINIs state-wide. I just consider us to be a local, NAM-based compliment to the Yahoo! folks. Our NAM exposure ought to benefit both groups, which is a good thing by my account.

I like the cleaner look of the logo now. My crappy monitor at home pretty much loses the map in the background, but the name against a plain background seems stronger anyway. The decorative type wants to blend-in with anything behind it.
While the logo is being tweaked, we should get to the card contents. My conception was a card including the logo, our NAM area URL, a slogan of our purpose or reason for being, and personalized information for the person leaving or handing-off the card. This would make the card an easy way to remember folks that come to meets, as well as let us advertise our presence to others and invite them in.
My thought is to make a personalized, letter-size page full of cards as a PDF that members could take to their local copy shop to have cards printed.
The personalized content could include NAM screen name, real name, a mug shot, a car shot . . . . whatever.
I'm open to ideas. Let me know what you think, and I will make a mock-up for consideration by the group.
I love the idea of the business cards. Every once in awhile I see a parked MINI and don't feel like I can "skulk" around waiting for the owner to show up.
Great job on the ideas and design!
Thanks.

Hey 'bear - (dang, you rolled out of the rack early today)
Believe our resident graphics expert R56 will be posting one last iteration of the logo as early as today, which will mod the wings so that they're not TOO much like the MINI corporate logo. Once we finalize, he'll be able to distribute the high-res PSd file.
I like all of your ideas on the cards. The personalization is a good idea, though in my case I wouldn't want it to be so personal that I would feel awkward leaving it on some anonymous MINI windshield. Maybe first name and a little auto pic/icon?

Original PSD Can be downloaded here for the Logo. The highest res I have is the one below. Could only find the MINI graphic at 1024x768 but that is more than large enough for a business card graphics and most use everywhere. If I need to hunt down a larger one let me know and I can.

Rob, the redirector is working...thanks for staking claim to the URL. Woo hoo!
We can pass the hat on the 3rd to reimburse you for the $7 investment since it exceeds our infant budget by something like $7 ...
No need for paybacks. I can cover the $7
I will need to know who wants to receive any emails sent to info@easterniowaminis.org ?? I have it forwarding to my mailbox right now but maybe one of the actual leaders of this group would prefer to get those.

I'm usually up by 04:30 and asleep by 21:30. I get a lot more done at school if it's just the custodians and me
I have downloaded the logo and font. I guess I will do personalized versions for all that want them. Everyone can just PM me with the text and photo they want.
I will put a sample card on the site when I have one done for approval. Those who want a non-personalized version may download and print R56MINICooper's or make their own from his PSD.
