Alta Performance Feedback

From early summer 2008 through spring 2009;I collected the Alta parts that I needed to upgrade Mini Margi(2008 r56 MCS JCW 6spd hatchback).CAI(the Turbo Intake Hose won't fit on a JCW unless one buys the CAI also,y'all should advertise this),Turbo Intake Hose,Boost Tube Hoses, and Intercooler Air Diverter.I bought some parts from from Alta and some from other vendors. In early spring 2009 Steve Phillips @ Mini of Dallas,Tx installed them all without problem.I made a speed run and clocked a solid 150mph.Prior to the upgrade I could only make 140mph.What Alta says about their parts is true. Jason

Having had the pleasure of driving on the tune in my personal MINI's, you will be very happy once it is in boxes for everyone else! (I know I am a tease!)

We ordered parts on July 19th so there would be time to have them arrive last week and be able to install them on the car this past weekend prior to leaving for our week long trip culminating in MITM4. We were not contacted till Thursday that there was a billing problem. I emailed and spoke with Molly who quickly solved the issue and shipped out the order. It is to arrive on Thursday this week which will give me a few hours that night (after work and soccer practice) to install before we leave on Friday. Definitely not ideal and not what was planned.
My questions from Friday morning were not answered till Monday. During this answer I was also informed that 2 of the 3 items I had ordered were back ordered and not shipping at all until some unknown time in the future. At no time during ordering on your website, phone or email conversations with your employees was I ever informed this. This is a major disappointment as we were looking forward to having these items on for the one MINI event that we do each year.
I think your order fulfillment department needs to contact the customer sooner with a problem and let them know as soon as possible that everything is either shipping or not shipping. Also if there are issues with billing please use all methods for contact immediately not just one.
I don't know if the reason it is out of stock is color selection or all items of that type in general. If it was color we could have easily picked a different color and received the item which have made us equally happy.

Thanks for the heads up WRX_xb9r,
We have recently made some changes to how we handle backorders, I fear this is where the delay became lengthened. This should not happen again. If you or anyone needs parts by a specific date OR has a timeframe issue PLEASE make sure to call and we will make every effort to ensure it is there on time!

Thanks for responding to the issue.

The original order was placed with plenty of time to arrive for a weekend install so quick shipping was never a thought originally. Communication of the backorder status was the issue that created all the other.

ALTA has now fixed the issue.

It is NOT a piggy back, but a handheld tool to allow re-mapping of the ECU tuning. Thanks for asking and more info to come!

Will this be similar to Cobb's Accesport? If so this will be awesome. I used the Accesport with great success on my STi. Keep the price reasonable and you will have a huge sales success. I will take one for sure.

Cold Side Boost Tube Issues

I need to get this off my chest...

The R56 cold side boost tube rubs on one of the valve cover bolts and over time tears through the tube. This has happened to a fellow motorer in my Mini club TWO seperate times! I've checked mine today and the cut is about halfway through the tube. I had to place a piece of rubber between the bolt and the tube to protect it for now. Is anybody coming up with a design change? Please don't say that jerry-rigging the tube with a bit of rubber is the proper solution...

Maybe come up with a valve cover bolt in that position that isn't so sharp it bites through the tube. That would allow the diameter of the tube to still be large

If you have used an AP before then you are thinking EXACTLY the right direction. Maps can be e-mailled to clients for updates, multiple maps can be stored on the AP to flash at anytime (for example a 91 octane and 93 octane depending on your recent fill up) can be removed for service work etc. etc.

We are continuing to trim up the product and it is taking longer than expected, but as some have already noted, the MINI / BMW ecu's can be challenging.

Thanks again for the interest and stay "tuned"!

Hi Shane and thanks for the heads up. Can you email me a picture of what's up? I just went and looked any my OE pipes and it looks like the OEM tube has a sleeve built onto the pipe (if I am looking at the same pipe you are.) where it touches a bracket. Thanks in advance! Email the pic to Jarid.Perry@ALTAPerformance.com

AMP-IGN-102:MSD ROUND PIN COIL PACK AND DR12S PLUGS FOR 15%+ S/C PULLEY COOPER S
right now my MINI has a stock pulley but in the future i might change it for the 15%, will there be any difference or should i buy the 15% pulley ones :P

The plugs are different. If you don't have the pulley yet get the package with the DR14S plugs. OR just do the pulley now!!!

I called last Tuesday to order an intake for the R53. I wanted black with a black filter. I was told the system showed one in stock so the salesman took the time to go out into the warehouse and check the physical stock. He could of taken the systems word and it may not be there.

I also wanted to get it to the east coast by Friday so it was shipped 3 day select.

Intake got here 1 day early and the package and product looked great!

Thanks guys!

I would recommend the AMP-IGN-102 with the DR12S spark plugs because they are 1 heat range colder and since you are in an area where the climate is hot it wouldn't do harm, especially since you are considering a 15% pulley in the future.

My frustration was that I called on Friday afternoon during Alta business hours (about 4:00pst) and was told by the receptionist, that the person I needed to speak with was helping another client. And she said she would have him call me back as soon as he finished. I asked will that be today, and was told yes.

Here is my question, when installing new Alta control arms and sway bar end links (front and rear). We noticed the new rear Alta end links did not match the configuration of the OEM. The difference is the stud length on one end of the OEM link is longer than the other. My guess it is longer so as to go through the aluminum trailing arm.

Part # on the Alta Box is:
Rear End Links
(all models)
AMP-SUS-410

Please advise-Thanks Ron
