GP flash vs JCW flash

so has anyone re-flashed with the GP flash and notice any difference yet?

i'm asking those of you with JCW's or JCW re-flashes.

i've just ordered a direct flow IC and wondering if the dealer will do a GP re-flash and how much it costs.
i've read that the JCW flash costs roughly $125 to do, how'bout the GP re-flash?

not having an actual GP isn't a problem, my friend runs the dealership.

I have check into this, and was told that the GP have the same ecu prgram as a JCW car. The head mechnic here in Utah check into this for me and said it has the same programming numbers. : )

Robino, ask if the RPM ceiling was raised on the GP - I recall reading somewhere that the max was raised slightly to help achieve the higher HP rating on the GP.

GP Flash

I put the V2 Alta Intercooler on my 2005 JCW Mini and was interested in the GP Software - it should be beneficial. I'm in Southern Calif. I've gone to three dealers - all said they have no authority from Mini North America to do a GP reflash on anything but a GP car (they will look at legit vin codes). I also checked with the Mini web site and their tech people said it couldn't be done. I've e-mailed JCW in England three times to get their response - no answer. It looks like a "no go" at this time. One positive thing about Southern Calif (not the traffic) is there are lots of Mini dealers. Maybe one of them will do a reflash for a price. I'm going to keep trying.

WELL LET ME KNOW when you find someone who will do it...

as the service manager for the whole dealer just **** blocked me from getting it done, the mechanic was willing to do it, the sales manager was cool with it, but the service manager for the dealer refused for the same reasons

"we would be liable for your Mini should your modifications not be 100% similar to the JCW or GP's...simply because you have similar modifications doesn't mean they match the GP's, not to mention GP/JCW is an outside company which only authorizes us to perform that type of work on those models alone and not on modified cooper S' minis..."

So that settles that, LOL...they won't even do a JCW reflash never mind a GP
I guess it's gonna be a custom Tuner File for me afterall...unless another Mini dealer is more 'understanding'.

Hmmm, I wonder if they'd GP flash my JCW? I thought I'd read somewhere that the GP software was slightly tweeked from the regular JCW. They got a few extra hoses somewhere, and I doubt a slightly larger intercooler alone would do it.

I know it is a seperate tune for sure, there is another part number in the MINI computer systems for it...Not sure who may or may not do it for you. It won't work for all ecu's either, you have to have an April of 05 or later...

It is tweaked, that i/c isn't the reason for the 4hp change alone.

Funny my dealer actually suggested going with the JCW flash as he knew I was looking into the aftermarket route and this way it wouldn't affect my extended warranty, only charged me $100

Next Helix 380cc injectors!
We dont' even get the GP up here
