Oil Catch Can...is catching oil!

Installed my $40 eBay catch can quite a long time ago (At least 10K) and just changed my oil out yesterday so I figured it was a good time to check the can.

The indicator did not show anything in the can...but when I took out the plug I must have had about 1/2 cup of thick black oil come out!

I need to take my intercooler off to make sure it's really preventing the oil from getting in there...But I'm glad (I think) to see that the catch can is actually catching oil!

Excellent.

This is a mod I've been thinking of doing lately.

could you post pics of what you find?

also please post your driving style/habits (do you track the car, how much freeway, canyons, spirited driving etc).

thanks!

I've only got this one pic of the oil showing up in the indicator (with the can tilted)

Btw I have it routed so that I only have one tap into the PCV - goes straight from there to the can and then back out to the hard plastic grey hose.

I didn't have any water in there either.

Oh and in terms of driving habits, mostly spirited driving, with some long trips mixed in. No track days yet...but soon.

All I know is that other people have complained about water and milky residue when running it the "other" way. I have to take off my intercooler to really see if it's working or not.

No, because if you block off the grey tube, you block off the crankcase, and the water gets trapped in there.

I blocked off my grey tube with no issues.

if you do high boost alot ; expect to see a little as the other vent tube works(goes positive at high boost) as crankcase vent under high pos. running. i don't run hard alot so i am catching most in my 16.00 dollar special.
