Hey guys, i have found 2 refabed t3s for sale pretty cheap. I was wondering if one could make a custom twincharged set up with these turbos and if so would it be worth it.
Is it worth my time making a custom setup or would i be better off going Helix.. any how they let me know and if any one wants to buy its sister let me know ( id be a steal... trust me.)
I built a turbo kit for a miata. I do not want to discourage you, but do try to visualize EVERYTHING that it is going to take to get that sucker in there and running right. And this was with alot of aftermarket turbo support. Let's face it, the miata turbo world is much larger than the MINI one.
Little things like finding the correct fitting for the oil feed line, making sure that pipes fit where you need them to, etc. getting the manifold to fit, takes up a LOT of time and effort. It's all the little things that will drive you nuts. For me, i would never build my own kit for a daily driver again. On a weekend car, sure....why not?
Plus, keep in mind that a T3 super 60 is a pretty old design at this point. There are newer, more efficiant designs out there that may be a better fit. If you do it, don't skimp on your turbo selection. Make sure it is the exact turbo that you want to use, which may not always be the cheapest!

Go custom, Go Turbo only...
Oh and, how much for the T3? What hp is it rated at?
The turbo that most of the kits seem to use are GT3071r and they are all aorund that size.
PM me if you wanna bounce some ideas off of each other or i have AIM too.
TC is the easier was to go, with less all new r&d that needs to be done. Most of the big stuff has already been settled with help from the guys that made the current kits.
This is my only driver. I drive it 500+ miles a week and it will be getting a TC. The turbo-only would take WAY to much downtime to do it on a daily car.
Besides, TC is so much cooler.

Turbo-only does require more downtime than a TC kit.. But.. we all know Turbo-only is MUCH cooler than TC... That's why all the cool kids are doing it..

the turbo is rated about 28 PSI. How that equates to horse power in our cars I don't know but the normal coop S is rated for 12 psi. Any how for both turbos I want around 200-250$
