i inquired about the cams earlier this year and plan on getting the race cam this spring, although it may come sooner than that! but I talked to way about them, and here is his response.

yes we came with these cams cause crower are all regrinds which doesn't allow any extra lift. And lift is what these cars need to get more in the cylinder. ours are machined from brand new blanks. Other brands we tried had too much variation in manufacturing and were made of crappy metal which would pit and fail.

The mild cam is great for a street car with no idle issues but nice gains.
The race cam is a little lumpy at idle, and really needs the idle bumped to make it run well at idle due to the lobe seperation. The race has like .1 more valve lift but more advance and lobe sep. which gives it more torque on the low and mid range. So you pretty much need some tune tweaks like you have the ability there to do to run the race cam.

Thanks
WAY

I didn't get the specs, honestly I don't know enough to tell how one set of spec defers to another in gains other than lift.

mild cam: drop in
race cam: more lift, needs tune

So far what i see is the lift is only about .5 mm bigger.but the duration or thinkness of the peak is wider.so the valves may stay open longer.

yeah I plan on getting the race cam in the spring, no need to have it right now, since I don't have a garage to throw a new cam in. I also would need a tune for the race cam, which I also don't want to be changing my injectors right now as well haha.

im glad the mild cam is working out for you right now, notice a difference in the idle? that mid range to top end should have definently opened up a bit

Exhaust is a lot louder..not much engine idle difference but can hear it a little in the exhaust.power is a lot better.it pull from aout 2500 4500 rpm. Once i get my ecu backnfrom way motors ill let you know then..id say for street use its great.can only go so fast on street and just want speed thru first 3 gears.which this cam keeps torque in low end.

Go with an RMW street cam. Near stock idle, nice mid-range and up pull.

Actually this in not correct with the Crower cams.. !! We have Lift numbers as high a .455" on a 're-grind' !!
There is an issue with the Exhaust lobe hitting the spark plug tube ( IE: Schrick has 8.9mm lift and tube needs tube dinged) Intake lift, there isn't an issue, with interference.

ALL the camshafts will under cut the stock base circle in order to make aggressive lift and duration numbers and still FIT the HEAD!! Under-cutting the base circle will remove 'some' of the pre-load on the lifter. IF too much pre-load is removed, that pre-load and be added by using a Lash Cap. ( only if you get that aggressive. 8000 rpm operating range)

The Crower Cams are cut on the high quality core used by BMW for their applications.. go wonder !!
Crower Cam drop in and rock.
