Lost compression in Cyl 1, low comp on other 3; AP tune

So I'm guessing the tune is largely to blame for this.

09 S on AP stage 3 map. Intake, FMIC, cat deleted stock exhaust. Hitting 18.6PSI consistently.

Monitored boost when I first noticed symptoms and it went to 20.1 at 3K.

Is the AP tune really that aggressive?

I know cyl 1 needs a piston, awaiting dealer to take it apart further and see what's wrong with the rest. So looking at minimum $1100 max $4500

Any advice?

I'm sorry to hear.... how many miles do you have on her ?

I'm running DNA and I hit 20 psi around 3k but it pulls it back pretty quick. I think its due to my custom intake tubing after the FMIC.

Sounds like its time for some good rods and pistons. Will the dealer support you on upgrading those ?

I thought to run the ap stage 3 they said you HAD to have 3" turbo back exhaust? Can't remember for sure on this but I seen you were running stock exhaust.
One of my customers is using stage 3 map now and I told him he should really have larger diameter exhaust ( he's running jcw exhaust ).
Either way I had the exact same thing happen to me almost a year ago From today with the exact same setup. Luckily for me it only melted a valve so Pistons and lower end were good.

Alta tunes aren't as aggressive as custom tunes. Also from everything I've read since getting my AP, in order to run stage 3, you'd need a full 3" turboback exhaust, intake, turbo inlet hardpipe, hot side boost tubes, and larger FMIC.

"All of the ALTA tunes, and dyno graphs we show, are "De-Tuned" from where we pushed them on the road and dyno. We did this to ensure the car will run safe, and to give room for custom tuners if the customer was looking for a more aggressive tune.

See that's what I thought too. It's a de catted stock exhaust so I saw stage 3 as most fitting once I got the FMIC and boost tube. Already had intake

I didn't think of upgrading since I'm already paying for the labor; I'll ask. Thanks

I would think more towards the valves. But best way to really see is after compression test and leak-down, is just pull the head and look.

If it is Piston(s) I would definitely look at upgrading. (move the Failure Point away from the internals)

Best of luck.

Motor on!

sorry to say but you were running the wrong tune. stage 3 is for a full 3" inch turbo back exhaust and and larger FMIC. just cat deleting stock exhaust is not enough.

I have am fully cat deleted with 2.5" downpipe and 2.5" dp back exhaust and i still run the stage 1 FMIC tune.

Sorry about the position you are in, but you should have checked for proper info on the tunes before you use them.

Yes.

So a piece of that piston decided to break off.

All ring lands are bad.

4,500 to fix at Mini.

I'm going to keep that Piston so I'll have pictures.
