I would think that going over 26mm on the width of the rotors would be kinda risky. It can be done, but the measurements would have to change in order to center the rotor without it grinding on the caliper.

30mm would be the widest rotor size you can use.....and not really you will have clearance issues.

I think what you would do is turn down the rotors from 26.9 to 26mm to make it work.

You just turn the rotors down to 26mm. But I doubt you'd need to. The 135i calipers and pads have quite a slop in them, some people have been adding multiple titanium spacers behind the pad to try to get them to stop rattling.

The way to get rid of the rattle and clicking pads that occur with aftermarket pads is to pry off the backing plates from an original set of pads they have the extended edges that keep the pad from moving and then add the TI shims for heat control. On a new set of pads with a new rotor it's a tight fit but it canbe done. You have too use the thinner TI shims.

Aren't the GP2 rotors slotted or drilled? Hard to resurface

I'll have to wait to get home to find out the part # in the bracket for the 135i Brembos. But they are nowhere to be found online either, I was searching last night.

On the rotors size:

What I was thinking is that once the caliper is set in place:

If the rotor is bigger and has a different offset (depending on the brand), would it create friction?

I remember doing this on my old 350z, I adapted some wilwood brakes and created the bracket myself...but from wilwood I had all the drawings and measurments needed.

On the other hand, I'm still waiting on Brembo to respond to my inquiry.

Keep posting guys, thoughts, ideas and anyhthing you may want to add.

BTW, I also talked to Todd at TCE Brakes in AZ and he said that he could develop the brackets as long as he has a rotor, the caliper and the pads on his hand. He will charge a $200 engineering fee and obviosly the material cost. He can also machine a couple of them. Just an idea.

But I doubt we would have to reingineer far away from the 135i caliper adapter, its just a matter of repositioning the holes for the bolts to adapt to the mini.

So, can anybody find out what the distance & dimensions are from bolt to bolt on the caliper mounting points for the Minis? (I will find out tomorrow anyways, but just if sombody has it on hand)

Thanks!

Yes, I would have done it a while a go, but I first would have to ship one GP2 brake rotor to the guy first, He said it would take about two weeks

What's the offset on the GP2 rotor "hat"?

Wilwood lists rotors that would work. If you ask them for a GP2 application they will of course say no. They didn't have rotors for a Mazdaspeed Protege either but I had Wilwood brakes on mine.

Spending $900 on rotors kind of takes the savings of out buying used 135 calipers.
GP2 rotors are only $258.60 for the pair on ECStuning.
How cheap are you getting the calipers?

I've only seen centric reman calipers for ~$400 a side when you get new GP2 calipers for ~$600 with correct brackets I don't see where the huge savings are coming in.

If they are only $258 for a pair then I will go that route. Even Wilwood two-piece rotors will cost more than that.

Just curious, where are you finding the GP2 Calipers for $600 w/brackets?

Thanks for putting this back into perspective EuroTechAZ. I thought we already had discussed that the rotors were a solved issue. I payed $300.00 plus shipping for my calipers, and they are in pretty good shape. But my main focus is getting the brakes on the car at a reasonable price and a doing a decent job. I do not, however, want to reinvent the wheel. There is plenty of info out there, we just need to put it together.

I talked to a couple of Brembo brake distributors and they don't seem to carry the adapter....and they can't provide me a direct line to communicate either. I will call a "stealership" and see if they can make it happen. If all else fails, there is a local machine shop that is willing to fabricate one for me.

Take into consideration that I have not taken my OEM caliper out and put in the 135i calipers to see if they are direct fit with the adapters they have. Will know for sure tomorrow.

Later tonight I will put together all the information I have gathered, part numbers and things needed.

correct , $600 each. The centric 135 calipers are listed each also so I was comparing.

Great deal on those used ones. I trolled ebay a while back and almost $1000 used was going rate.

I got very lucky to be honest with you. A guy was parting out a rear ended 135i...and I creeped to the forum and snagged them.

I stand corrected. If you get the correct rotor hat offset, I think .9 mm won't be really a problem.

Hey guys,

Fitted the brakes. Coop3r helped me out today. Have a looksie.

Fisrt things first, they fit with NO need to buy an adapter. There holes to fit the caliper to the car are just about 1-2 mm off....nothing that just creating wiggle room on those holes wont solve.

There you go guys. I just have to buy the shields, 15mm sapcers, rotors, brake lines, and pads and I think we're good to go.

Once I get everything together I will post pics for you guys enjoy! And any problems I run to.

Unfortunately pads for my 135i are crazy expensive!

But great news! So this entire conversion will cost me less than $400 when I put big brakes on my 135i.

Thanks!
