Ground up build. CRANK SHAFT QUESTION

I've been working on this build for quite awhile. I've got all the common bolt ons. I've chosen to use battle/DNA tuning when I get to it. I'm almost done with the ported head. Re-installing the 248 Schrick cams. New pistons 78MM Noticed something the other day reading about an article on a 2015 GP I think it was. Am I correct it's got a 2 liter engine ? If so, how about a real tech question now, does anyone know what the specs are on the crank ? Stroke, Journal size etc. are we able to stroke the N14 engine ?

outstanding question.....
Wish I new more about these engines , I'm new to the mini's
If it was a Suzuki GSXR or Chevy , Ford we could talk....lol
I would think rod length and rod ratio would be the issue if the crank fits.
Maybe grab a Bentley manual and see if there is enough info ( got to have pictures...lol ) and can make a call from that.

All the new Cooper S' are 2L. The new F56 MINI's use a completely different engine from the R56. I don't believe there is any component sharing between the two engines.
I've not heard anything about a stroker kit but you could check some of the european forums. Seems like the Peugeot guys have done some crazy stuff.

Yeah , anyone will tell you they can weld your cranks up and stroke it , It's for how long it will stay together is the question.
I got about 30 passes on a drag motorcyle on a welded up crank , but thats a lot higher rpms... who knows.... I'm not going to be the pig on this one...lol

I wouldn't weld any crank to get what want. That's got disaster written all over it.

Well they do weld up on repairs a lot for stockers , but when you try to do a build up to offset the journal that is when the words disaster comes into play....loll

The R56 (N14 and N18 ) are fairly stroked to begin with.

Guess I'll go research Duell since I just got the motor on the stand now. It'd be really nice to know what's "weak" as far as the head goes. If anyone knows please let me know. Mows the time. I've got it all disassembled. Researched manic tune. Just happen to have a dealer here in New Jersey that does dyno work as well. Looks like it'll be manic now. Only because of, location location location.

This guy on MT, from his #1 thread entry, has a "modified crankshaft". You might want to contact him for info. This might also be the area / supplier he doesn't want to disclose, I read it several months ago and my memory is shot.

http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f272...nls-r56-25947/

His thread is extremely long, but well worth the time to read. His results are impressive. You probably won't want to copy him, but maybe learn what works and what doesn't, for what you intend to do.

Yeah back when he was asking about forged internals I sent him to the same build thread. What Themis has done and documented is a great resource for the Mini community

Now if Xarula would do the samething there'd be more 400hp+ Minis around

Well maybe with some luck, and a lot of it, we can get 325-350. That'd be good enough for me. I think the methanol injection will help a bunch with that. Would have been nice to get some extra stroke those.

Upgrading the turbo to the JM turbo GT45R. I have a turbo for sale that was done by GPOP and only has about 500 miles on it. It's one step up from a JCW turbo. I except pay and the price decided will include shipping. I'm gonna say $650.
