Exhaust Burble on gear upshift

Hi guys,

Few weeks ago, I saw a R56 S drive by me. It did a burble on each gear shift (while upshifting). I have a 2012 R56 S and it does pop and burble, but only when I let go off the gas under high rev or when I downshift.

I'm not sure what modification were done on that car, and am looking if someone has any idea or have heard anything similar.

I drove an Audi S4 the other, it did a similar burble on every gear change. It is so addictive

Any advice please

burble on upshift

My 2012 JCW Clubby does that! I've only had it a month.

I've just done the resonator delete. Recently I installed the Burger Motorsport JB+ tune.

I've noticed it depends on which rpm you shift at, I can get a pop on every shift at 2500-2800 rpm, just gotta find the money spot, it will even do it on down shifts every lucky once in a while!

Probably had an exhaust or is catless. Mine pops non stop ever since I did both. Pops a lot more and is a louder pop.

I just noticed since adding the JCW exhaust with resonator and 2nd cat removed. I'm able to pop on every up shift/letting off the gas, but only when the engine hasn't warmed up yet. Sounds awesome.

Calico Jack will pop/burble on upshifts, but ONLY if I get lazy shifting slow rather than shifting/engaging the clutch at a more "normal" speed. When engaging the clutch more quickly upshifting he neither pops nor burbles. Downshift rev-matching, he pops/burbles as normal. No mods (yet) in engine/exhaust system - stock components.

Is your S4 and cooper S automatic? I noticed automatic cars with sport exhaust or sport mode these days will "fart" on every upshifts. Auto tranny F series mini cooper S will have those farts as well with exhaust mods. I have an auto R61s and removed the muffler, but it does not have those pop and burble sound when I upshift, only at downshifts when at higher rpm.

Aftermarket exhaust, especially with 2nd cat delete and resonator delete will make the P&B's more pronounced.

2nd cat and res removal

If you own 2.5 gen (2012+), you don't need an aftermarket exhaust, it can be done with stock exhaust also.

Engine must be warmed up first, and if you put on sport mode, it will start generate pops from exhaust.

If you are looking for louder and more pops, remove 2nd cat and resonator, it will give you much more pops!!
