Just got it installed today at Steve's pulley party, and all I can say is wow, this is exactly what the throttle is supposed to feel like. Steve made quick work of the mod, and I've now driven it for about 3-4 hours. The throttle response has sharpened along the entire rev range, and both at low speeds and on the freeway. All lag from the electronic throttle has seemingly disappeared, and the car seems to have a bit more torque in the low RPMs, from a standing start. I no longer have to feather the throttle incessantly just to get the car moving.

The best way I can describe it is that it feels like my MINI has been drinking too much Red Bull!

Quite a few people got it done today; if you did, post your thoughts on it here!

From what I understand, it's a modification involving the bypass valve for the supercharger. It is not the zip-tie mod, though.

I'm supposed to get one of these from maxmini so my local MINI mechanic and I can install it for review. Sounds very promising. . .

However, until then, I would be very interested if someone would elaborate on the "zip-tie mod"

--->Yucca: Here is the thread where I started the bypass-valve modification concept.

If Peter's "Device" ends up being the Ryephix #2, well, obviously I'll be pissed that he stole my design. I hope Peter can quickly clarify what he's doing :???:

Ryephile. The device is nothing even close to what you have done, we told you this earlier. Don't you beleive us ? This device, unlike yours still allows the valve to function properly allthough more effeciently than stock. It does not permamently lock the valve closed , avery bad idea indeed. We will be giving it away free as a lovely parting gift at the pulley party again tomorrow. Shortly we will be distributing it free to anyone that sends us a stamp self addressed envelope. We are waiting to actually play with it on a dyno first so the number kids have something to live with. Now ryphile if you like feel free to use OUR idea and give your item out for free as welll

You told me what earlier? Functions properly, unlike mine? I hate to break the shocking news, however my bypass valve functions properly.

I still don't know what the "Device" is, so that makes it difficult to use it. I've already shown the world how to make their bypass valve quicker operating with my How-To's in The Yo-Yo Chronicles, as linked above.

Your comments are very slanderous and loaded, and are not appreciated.

Hmmmmmmm. Lets see maby it is just a response to this train of thought which could be considered " very slanderous and loaded, and are not appreciated. "

"If Peter's "Device" ends up being the Ryephix #2, well, obviously I'll be pissed that he stole my design. I hope Peter can quickly clarify what he's doing "

Consider yourself clarified , it is nothing like yours , no where near as complicated . It just works and its FREE  As for any more info than that it is a need to know basis and you can guess the rest

i seem to remember one of ryephiles phixes does not involve permanently locking the valve closed. one did, but not the other.

in any case, i am highly interested in any non-permanent fix (i wet my pants when i read about rye's, though luckily for me, i had no terrible yoyo) that will increase throttle response as i am a huge downshift junky.

let us know when you begin distributing this (for free still i hope!).

rye, your fixes were also groundbreakingly awesome. i mean, comeon, miniusa pretty much instituted a software fix because of you and theo(?).

free love me long time.

We want to" show the numbers" before we send it out to everyone . Blame that on you know who LOL . We ar just installing them for anyone who wants them this weekend so we can get feedback first hand from a variety of owners. To be honest the item istelf is so inexpenisve that we would feel guilty charging anything for it even tho people have spent 100's of dollars to acheive the same noticable results. When we release them send us a envelope and you will get one too.Tomorrow I think I wil have randy Webb do a before and after drive himself. He drove my car today and was able to see the results on the BMP boost gage but never drove my car before i had the " device Verison3 rev C
( inside joke )

Trippy we were wondering where you have been. The best guess was you will holding a summit meeting of the PBWRTWS, ( Plasma Booster Will Ruin The World Society ) as the boards were so quiet.

As for your stomach turning try malox .

Your distaste has been way over compensated for by the smiles on the people that have actually tried the " device " by driving their car as the intital post stated not a keyboard from some dark hole on the planet . Oh wait thats rite the poster was most likely paid thousands of dollars to make that post, no he was a relative yes thats it he was a she thats it it was my mom that made the post.Damn Trippy you are good

Wish I could stay and chat some more but I am off to the second day ofthe Randy Webb/ M7 Pulley party at Steve's where we can hand out fat checks with every " device " to force people to say they like it.Trippy it good to have you back now we can have some fun again.

Randy,

I understand you and Peter have disagreed with people like Trippy and Andy in the past. I understand you both have your own opinions. I don't have any problem with you asserting your side of the story.

However, the juvenile way you do so ruins any chance of credibility. Considering you work with Peter, I'm guessing you're at least 20 or so. You do understand things like "Oh wait thats rite the poster was most likely paid thousands of dollars to make that post, no he was a relative yes thats it he was a she thats it it was my mom that made the post" are how 12-year olds argue with each other, don't you?.

If you want anyone to take you seriously, please stick to debating facts and figures in an adult manner. I'm interested in things you guys develop (any new ideas for making more power are welcome!), but talking like adolescent kids sure turns me off and I'm sure others feel the same. If you can't act like a professional on here, I have trouble expecting professional dealings with your company.

Doug

I knew it would be busy when I got back today lets see what answers I have for you all. Installed about 15 new " devices " today and the responce was positive across the board.

" is this device going to have any effects on gas mileage? is it hard to install? any cutting, drilling, relocating, etc?

gas mileage effects not sure on that one to be honest, hard to install no and no cutting, drilling or relocating

Gravedigger sorry you took my responce so seriously. We like playing with trippy as we can't really take anything he says seriously as he still believes the plasma Booster is the root of all evil. ( Installed 3 today BTW ). As for my age I really wish i was only 20 but alas I graduated , yes i did graduate, college in 1972. I find it odd that you took exception as you did as when i read the entire post thread to those at the party today it was quite a comic relief and they all wanted to know where their checks are and if Trippy was feeling better.. I think your opinion might be in the minority on this one but then again it is only my opinion  I am happy that you are interested in our products but wish you could see the tongue in cheek responce is only in keeping with the post it is dealing with.BTW Gravedigger we are only keeping those on our XMAS list that can understand out sense of humor so you are now on double secret probation. ( see if any 20 yr old knows where that came from LOL )

Jack so you are the ones responsible for Randy talking funny Eh ?

To all those that want to send your envelops we will decide on a address sometime next week. I will be sure to post everywhere so no worries

Thanks for all the interest,

Randy
