Hi everyone - I got my Dinan exhaust installed this week along with the rest of the stage IV items: Airbox, Throttle body and Stage IV software. In fact I had already installed the airbox some months back with good results.
The work was done very professionally by Avus Autosport of Glendale, CA. They are an authorized Dinan dealer. The customer experience there was first rate.
First impressions: It felt like the car had grown another cylinder. Power comes on sooner [around 2800rpms] and faster. Less waiting for the fun to start! Day one, the exhaust seemed VERY LOUD compared to stock 05 exhaust. My stock exhaust burbled some when modulating throttle, etc. The Dinan burbled, popped, clicked and generally crackled much more than stock. On day one, I was _almost_ thinking I might need to buy some baffles for it.
Days 2-4: getting used to it...
Day 5+ : I really, really like it. It sounds seriously sporty without being too ricer / spud cannon / high-school. My neighbor called it a 'potent little beast', which sums it up really well.
The Dinan exhaust is a single can on the passenger side, exiting to dual chromed tips. The exhaust tips are noticeably larger than stock with an embossed "DINAN" logo. See pic below.
The whole Stage IV package plus labor was not cheap, but was "around half" what a jcw engine kit might cost you. A cautionary note: I am also running a 15% pulley previously installed in the car, which Dinan does not recommend without a fuel pump upgrade [mixed opinions on this ; search the threads here]. I have not yet observed any problems but I am considering getting the pump and/or larger injectors anyway.
Overall I would say I am very pleased with the Dinan exhaust. The one thing I would change would be to include or sell a set of baffles [like Borla does] to quiet down the pipes if desired by more sedate drivers.
The video was done on a digital camera made for still shots, so video quality is not the best. Also, I found that if you do not have a decent set of speakers with a subwoofer...you will have no idea what the exhaust actually sounds like. In person, it sounds much "fuller" and the volume is louder. I tried to capture that by flooring it through the tunnel, but the camera did not really pick it up as much as I thought.
Like I said, if you don't have any form of bass on your computer sound system...you really won't hear what the exhaust is supposed to sound like...especially on the idle video.

So has anyone looked into this some more. Any of our vendors carrying this new exhuast yet. I found a few places that are "magnaflow authorized dealers" and they are getting around $1000 dollars which I know isn't correct because the earlier years are only $650ish. Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Steve
Edit: I got an email back from our friends over at OutMotoring and they have the new model year cars exhaust kit in stock. They also said that the price will be the same as the older models. So I was gonna go Powertone but if I can save $150 bucks and go with Magnaflow then I have some money left over for a pulley and a case of beer for a buddy of mine to install it for me. Hope this helps some people.
Thanks,
Steve

wait.. the cold air intake costs 475??? what cai is that?? Im not to sure about the MCS but for the MC I only paid 100 bucks for my K&N it shouldnt be too too much more than that.
You should try asking a question about a CAI in a thread that's about CAI not exhaust related material. You'll probably get more answers.
Thanks,
Steve

i think im stuck between the M7 and UUC, which is louder?
are there any working video's or clips of the Borla Race/Sport?
I've been looking for a Borla Race video/audio clip for about 2 months now and could not find any. I actually picked up the Borla Race about 6 weeks ago and it is being installed as we speak at my body shop, but I won't have it back until late next week. My car is being worked on after a rear-end accident back in August....I've been dieing to hear it....Once I get it back from the body shop, I'll get a video clip of it and post it for you and everyone else.
