Need help! I have a dealer appointment tomorrow. I can't uninstall my AP. It just keep saying "Communicating to ECU" but nothing happens. I updated the firmware and still doing the same thing.
Sounds like you didn't press the ignition to turn the car on and so its not communicating with the ecu?
Try plugging into a different USB port on your PC, if that doesn't work, uninstall Accessport Manager and reinstall old version. Check to see if the Accessport is recognized. Could be several things but this is a start. Good luck!

Tried different USB ports already. The AP gets power from all of them, but the PC doesn't even see it.
So reinstalling the AP Manager probably won't matter. But I have no idea where to get the old version anyway. The link to download it from Alta doesn't work anymore.

have you tried plugging it into the car and see if it recognized the car?

It sounds like the update may have caused the issue, hence my suggestion to install an older version. Hopefully a clean install from davrudy's copy will fix it. Good luck!
Yeah, I'll try it after work later. But I thought I remember before on my last JCW using the AP, that when I plugged in the AP to the PC even before I had the AP Manager software, it would see the AP and would say it can't find the APManager software. Right now, it doesn't show up as a device that Windows even sees.
Oh wow...for the heck of it, I changed cables and the PC sees the AP again. So that other cable must have gone bad, but still allowed the AP to get power.

the maps for a 2012 JCW coupe should be same as 2011 JCW Hatch since it's the same engine right?
Cause the AP seems to be using the same maps from that were there from my old 2011 JCW Hatch, including the 2 custom throttle sensitivity ones I had made.
I just got a second hand Accessport V2. Checked to make sure it was up to date with Accessport Manager. The only performance parts on my 2008 S auto are a K and N CAI. Installed the Stage 1 91 octane tune. Went for a test drive. It falls on it's face right before the 1st to 2nd shift. Any thoughts as to whats going on?
I haven't kept up with this thread (3700 posts!). Did anybody ever find out why Cobb discontinued this product? It seems like they could sell a bunch (I could have sold quite a few!).
As I understand it, they couldn't program the N18 engine control unit through the OBD2 port like they could on the N14 motors, so they stopped making it.

i had the same problem. went back to stock tuning while i hashed it out. haven't found the fix yet, but i'm pretty sure it's one or both, either the HPFP is going bad and/or you need to carbon buildup on your intake ports walnut blasted off.... i just found and purchased a good HPFP, i'll let you know if that makes the difference.

I don't think sales were going according to how they were projecting, plus the canned tunes from Alta weren't the greatest once modifications were thrown in the mix. The off-the shelf maps were alright, but people needed dyno-based tunes and most tuners that were familiar with the Accessport software didn't know the MINI platform. It really was a ripe market that was in need of further investment and Cobb and Perrin/Alta didn't want to make the investment.

that being said.. Simple Performance in downtown Salt Lake City, UT still does Cobb dyno tuning, and they know the MINI platform very well! so if you're close to this area, these little accessports are still really useful

Wow, Salt Lake, are they the only tuner that still does AP tunes? Does anybody know of one in the Southeast?
