I would consider myself mechanically inclined. Ive installed turbo chargers suspension systems, clutches etc. For some odd reason the more I tighten the clamp, the more my Air filter keeps slipping off housing. I'm not sure if I can feel comfortable leaving it on just tight enough for it to stay put.
I had the same problem.
I cleaned the rubber really good (just the lip that makes contact) and the contact point of the box with degreaser.
No problem after that.
Good luck.

+1 The oil used on the filters is good stuff! Just clean the rubber extra good and you shouldn't have a problem. If you do let PM me!
I know it's been said, but I had the same problem, called alta, they recomended a good wipe of the inner rubber, I wiped it out, and it hasnt slipped since, for a while, i was popping the hood everytime I parked, to check the intake, hasnt slipped since (now I only pop the hood every 1k or so...)
