remove old cover.
remove IC boots
Remove front IC support brackets.
Remove IC.
Remove rear IC supports
Install new IC rear support.
Install IC& Boots
Install front supports
Install cover
DONE! If you're good with yanking the IC. It's less than 1/2 hour.
Also, since the GP covers the plug access a bit, take the time to make sure your plugs are torqued.
Also, the rear passenger side support can wear thicker, less flexy aftermarket plug wires. Make sure they aren't rubbing too much.
You also need to figure where you will have the heat exchanger that cools the fluid going to the reservoir. It will need very good airflow to bring down the water temps - water retains its heat longer than air - so once the total fluid mass is hot it will need very effective cooling to bring it back down so that it makes a difference in cooling the intake charge.
mount a radiator from an automatic and instead of tranny cooler it's now a i.c. cooler!!!

You also need to r&r the bonnet mounted baffle (diverter) with the one specific to the GP IC.
I'll try to get side by side photos. The diverter for the GP IC extends the scoop back further (just a bit) to expose the back two fins that would otherwise be blocked by the standard diverter. It also fits properly around the new cover. It looks to me like the standard diverter would require some trimming or cutting to fit down on the larger IC cover.

Not really...but I appreciate your concern.
To be honest, I didn't order that one for Jim...but his experience sounds exactly like what I have heard concerning GP parts. They are just shipping the stuff no questions asked.
MINI has a ton a GP parts in storage, especially crash parts. They need to make room and move some of thier stock.
What they didn't plan for back in 06', was for the many GP owners to either never put very much mileage on their cars, or to see them mothballed in a garages. And never figured on having this many parts in still in stock. I get a sense you will see more of these parts being freed up and bolted to many 1st Gen MINI's.
