need help identifying a pulley.

i bought myself a 2002 mini cooper s a few months ago from a local vw dealer. it had 4 previous owners so im curious if it had any mods.

so, when i was installing a boost gauge yesterday i looked at the super charger pulley and it didnt look like the few pics of stock ones ive seen.the one i have has 6(i think..it was a little dark) allen head bolts. ive looked at a bunch of aftermarket pulleys and the closest one i found to mine was a helix pulley.

if anyone knows what a 2002 stock pulley looks like or has some pics maybe you could help me identify mine. ill try to get some pics up soon.

stock pulley's have no allen bolts. I would think its a Helix or Mini Madness. Either way, if it running fine then you saved yourself a few hundred dollars on one and got an extra 10-20hp

thanks. i just looked it up and it looks more like the mini madness pulley. bonus!

i have another question though. would the pulley increase my boost at all? i seem to be hitting around 12lbs max and i was under the impression that stock was almost 12lbs anyway. is this correct?

either way, it doesnt seem like enough im hooked! now i'll never finish my vw rabbit project

It should, stock psi should be around 9? I think. I'm getting around 16psi with my Alta 15% pulley.

What kind of miles do you have? A high time, older supercharge will boost less due to wear and loss of efficentcy....you may also want to look at the bypass valve, it could be stuck or not sealing completely.

The belt might be slipping, do you know the last time the belt was changed? If not go ahead and replace it.

more likely that SC itself is worn out. Old car with higher miles with four owners, you'll be lucky if it's the belt.

here's a pic of the pulley. its looks like the mini madness one to me.

so, i did the VGS thing today and noticed that i can get to 15lbs of boost(from 12lbs).

while i was in there i manually moved the bpv arm with my finger and it seemed pretty easy to move. could all this mean that i would need a new bpv?

also, if i had to redo the belt, would it be the same procedure you use to change the pulley? if thats the case, id probably just get myself a smaller pulley while i'm in there anyway.

If that is rust on that pulley then it's not the madness as it's aluminum.
Off hand I dont reconize that pulley

Might be some knock-off from evilbay....I can't say that I have heard of many non-stainless steel, or non alu pulleys....that look like it must be steel. Wow.

It's definetly a Helix or Madness knockoff. I've installed the Helix and they are stainless so they never rust.

If your going to go with a new pulley and belt we do offer stainless 17%'s in our WMW pulley
