16% pulley = New rattle?

Had my mechanic put on an 16% pulley, and now i get sort of a rattle in the motor, it's hard to describe, closest description would be an A/C clutch going out?

could this be some sort of a ping ,maybe? Went with stock plugs also.

It's really hard to pin down the noise, very annoying, but the car has more power of course, love the difference.

these are the parts:

No offense intended here, but is your mechanic a Mini mechanic? There should be nothing different after your pulley install, except more power. If it was running fine before, should be fine now. Make sure he installed it right is all I can add.

Sorry can't diagnosis noises without hearing them.

But you shouldn't have any new noises after a pulley install, I'd make the shop that installed it look at it and find out.

I was curious if this was normal after a pulley install. maybe the blower turning faster. sounds abnormal, will have him look at it.

Can someone tell me the exact model number of NGK plugs that are one step colder? thx

If it's a rattle sound that shouldn't be normal, the water pump gears will make a rattling kinda sound when they are bad, so that could be, but without hearing it we are all guessing.
As for spark plugs they should be 7's, here is a link to them.

An 18% reduction.....brave man (at least from all the complaints I hear about bad CA gas....long live 93!!).
Cooler plugs from what I have been hearing would be a must. I would also say, when you do your plugs...be sure to torque then very carefully....lots of stories about then getting blown out and doing damage....many folks are saying that you should use a drop of lock-tite to prevent them from loosening up.
Good Luck!!

oh you put crank pulley as well, you did not mention that (noticed in link)
you removed your "harmonic balancer" it will tend to rattle at idle. Many folks are "nervous" about crank pulley and reliability issues, but many have used it w/o probs and I ran it on previous MCS with no probs. Make sure you have right belt size.

hmm... barely noticeable at idle. I know it's hard without hearing it. New water pump wouldn't hurt.

Naww...a waste of money unless it is weeping, leaking, or has lots of miles...do it when you rebuild/replace you supercharger. I would make sure you computer was reset, drop in new plugs...the colder ones, and make sure you have some good gas....some octane boost might help at least temporily. If it does...you know the problem is ping/knock. I would also look at the color of you tail pipe....is it black? If it is, ok. If it is gray or white....a warning sign that you may be running lean.
Good luck!!

Just throwing this out here, so after changing out your pulleys and a new belt, I wonder if the new belt, being tighter may have took out your idler pulley? They will make a bad rattle sound when bad.
