I am only boosting 10 or 11lbs , overboost to 12.6 help me figure out why?

I have not had my scangauge II for very long. So I can only Tell you what's going on now. With my foot down as fast as I can I only hit 10 11 lbs of boost, even overboost only goes to 12. I am planning on taking off my boost tubes and intake tube this weekend to see if the stock ones give me better boost. But any advice or even guesses would be appreciated.

The obvious first question. Are you running the xgauge w/ it calibrated to your altitude above sea level?

OK then will some people with 2008's tell me what they are boosting? Because I thought the same thing until I just talked to someone who said they are seeing 16 and 17.

Chakraj,

On my 08 MCS, I get numbers very similar to yours, 10-12 psi boost.

Many people report really high numbers as they did not adjust for atmosphere which is 14.7 psi.

because in most cases they have not calibrated their gauges properly or at all. But from talking to my dealer about it in the past 10-12 is normal.

That seems normal to me and keep it that way. That is a safe amount of boost on these turbos and i would be reluctant to turn it up

Two boost gauges show my brand new 09' MCS boosting to 10-12psi under normal acceleration and upto 14 for passing and short bursts (what I've read is the overboost function) Curious to know what the JCW's are running and what moded guys are seeing. Any increases with bigger exhaust or IC's?

Good friend of mine said he saw a 1psi increase when he blocked off the noisemaker...

Modding the powertrain isn't going to give more boost since the ECU will just tell the diverter valve on the turbo to dump the extra air. You've gotta get a tune to do anything. I have an '09 MCSm, and i'm usually in the 10-12psi range. I ONCE hit 13.9 psi LOL!

My JCW hits 19 consistently with occasional 20. I have a tune. I can hit 15 with 3/4 throttle.

Exactly what I saw, give or take 1 psi prior to any mods. As I opened up the breathing, I say overboost peak a bit higher (call it 15-16).

With the tune I'm running, which still needs some tweaking in my non-professional opinion, I see a whole lot more.

JCW runs a bit higher I think because of the different turbo and ECU calibration.
