Where can I get a tune!?!

Hey everyone,

I have a 05 "S" with 15% pulley, CAI, header, exhaust (no cat), plugs, wires, and Alta v2.0 intercooler. I obvisouly need a tune. But I guess my question is...Is there any "good" place to get a tune!?! I have a local performance shop in town that does dyno's n what not, but I dont know if that would be the way to go!?! There are also a couple of sites I found, that only require you to send in your ECU, and they just "flash" it. Then you get free upgrades/downgrades for life...I guess I just dont know which would be better...I live in Green Bay, WI, and there is not much for MINI owners here...I would guess the closest would be Milwaukee or Chicago...I wouldnt have a problem going there, I just want to know if there is anything there before I make the trip! Any help would be appreciated guys! Thanks!

Check w/Dustin at AutoXcooper.com. I think Mynes is coming that way early next year or maybe before? He's the one who's going to do mine. I thought about doing the "flash" from those sites but might as well get the best tune and not have to wonder if it was really tuned to perfection.

Dont go with a flashed canned tune, your just wasting your money. I had GIAC on my R53 and it advanced my timing way to much and made the car run rich and like crap. I know RMW and I'm pretty sure Mynes both do remote custom tuning, so if I were you I'd talk to one of them

RMW = Revolution Mini Works. Most tuners come to you (well not exactly you) With enough people interested and a place with a dyno. No, AutocooperX(Dustin) does not do tunes but he might be asking around and seeing who's interested.

But RMW and Mynes are the most used tuners here.

Check the club and regional forums for tuning parties near you.

RMW (revolutionmini.com) and mynes (google mynes mini cooper, i dont remember it off the top of my head), both do remote tuning. Basically they send you some software and a dongle and you record the dyno runs and send the data back to them, and they can tune your car pretty similarly to if they were there, and then they send you back the new ECU profile, and you upload it into the car.

Your welcome to come down to Indy, we'll set up a day and do the tune when you get to town.

As for "canned tunes" Yes most of them just advance the timing a ton and bump the rpm limiter. We actually offer our own Quicktune or "canned tune". I developed it after seeing all the shark injectors, giac, mth etc files and finding them not offering what they claimed. We have the ability to affect multiple timing maps, fuel maps, throttle maps, torque maps and rpm map. Doing small changes in all of these can make huge differences in drivability and power.

Check w/Dustin at AutoXcooper to see if Mynes is coming to do a tune for their club next year in Chicago. If there are enough owners wanting a tune then they set up a tune for those wanting it and Mynes flys in and does the tune. RMW may do the same in a nearby area/club but I'm not familar with anyone in your area who works with him. He may have set up a "dealer" to work with him on the remote tunes. I don't think Mynes is ready with his "remote" tune.
I live 1,500 miles from Mynes and hope he'll do a club tune nearby but if he doesn't, I'll be heading his way next yr for my car. Not gonna do the canned tune.
