IIRC, it's rated for about 230 ftlbs of tq.
Typically you can do pulley, intake, exhaust, header, cam, head and tune and be right about in that ballpark. But if you're considering a turbo conversion or a Rotrex or a stoker... you might end up beyond the limits of the auto tranny. I haven't heard of anyone who has grenaded the Aisin in a MINI from too much power... but I suspect it could happen.

I have just about everything you can do to the engine and I haven't had any problems with the tranny. It's also very hard to get a real actuate hp or tq reading on a dyno, because the tranny shifts early. The best I've been was 206 whp & 192 lbs tq at 6600 rpms.

Hey I was wondering would the Sprint Boost and an increase in rev limiter somehow allow higher rpms?

Most probably not b/c we also have a separate Transmission control module.

The TCM should be "told" to upshift later but I have yet to see any tuners out there who would be willing to investigate that option

^ Correct.

Actually, you *could* probably get higher RPMs.... if you had enough HP to wind it all the way past 6700RPM in 6th.

The limiter on my ECU has been raised but the tranny control still shifts early. I have enough HP. In first or second gear when I get on it to hard the timing go's crazy and pulls the timing. The last time I had it checked it was pulling 27 degree on the timing at high rpms ( some were above 6k ) If I come on a little slower it's fine.

My limiter is raised also, with the same results. Maybe you didn't get my joke.... enough HP to go over 6700 RPM in 6th... since there's no higher gear to shift to... that would work... but you'd be going 170MPH or something like that...

I know that Myners & RMW are both looking into the problem, but it's very low on the list.

^ b/c it's no man's land. Why bother with a/t limits?

And I really wouldn't wanna get one more variable into the equation of "when will it break down?" :D

If that was true we would still be riding horses. Sometimes it breaks and then you learn and go on.

I'm pretty fearless with this stuff (though not as fearless as checkers).

But the first time somebody's tranny poops the bed and they're out $8,000, it will suck.

Thats what I thought, I was just wondering if the quicker WOT would fool or delay the shift a second or two.

I would wait, with the talk of the 135ti and now the controversial announcement from former VP of MINI now head of M Division, Dr. Kay Segler, said that a 1-Series M car is in the works.
