with a full exhaust , jcw filter and a forge IC installed.
I did a ecu tune and the only thing we cant figure out is in first and second gear as the car accelarates and goes to the rpm that it reaches its top power , suddely you feel the power to be cut off a bit , but as you change gear it starts to accelerate hard due to the high torque again. Only in first and second gear i got this problem mostly. So is the a limiter for torque or something and can it be removed?
the car with stock ECU does this as well, but I wonder if the tune may have accentuated this. Are you disabling both DSC and ATC? I don't think the ATC would give such a feeling as it really only backs throttle enough to reduce wheel spin but that also could be overreacting with the tune. I think monitoring air/fuel ratios while on a dyno could be helpful. I wish I could be of more help. Best of luck with this!
Yes there is a limiter. I have no idea about the specifics on it though, but it's very evident in my car. On my US spec car, its only in 1st though.
You can see it in the boost as well, it only boosts ~11psi max in 1st, shift into 2nd and the car takes off and boost is ~18psi. So, there is something that limits the boost it would seem. My car is tuned, so its more evident than it was when stock. When I race my friends stock R56, we are always dead even through first, then I shift into 2nd and I become car lengths ahead.
The limiter is there to prevent excessive wheel spin when people are starting from a stop. So, when you have some moron who has never driven a high torque FWD car, they don't go flying into traffic from torque steer when they start off from a start. Little bit of cover your ass on MINI's part. I'm sure it's easily defeatable as long as the map is found for it. But to be honest...with 240 ft-lbs to the wheels, I kinda like having a limiter in 1st...even if it is a little boring. Cuz with it all on tap in 1st, I'd be doing nothing but roasting tires.

it doesnt spin if the surface is clean, like at the drag strip. i have 17/225/45's on my car and they are mx's they have plenty of traction with full power in first. The main difference i have had with the unichip is 1st doesnt seem limited like it was before

you just contradicted yourself. It WAS limited before you overrode the stock parameters with the unichip. It's possible that it is still limited - the limits could be higher now.
I could spin my 16" runflats in third gear with the unichip. So of course you should spin in first with ANY tire you can fit. (I had daily CELs for a long time also but that's a different story)
