After waiting for 3 weeks to get a call tag then two weeks to get back to me once they got it back they have no more black intake tubes and will no longer be making them.... offered a red one or wait for the new hard tube to come out in another month or so at least. they look like crap, will not give refunds on used items. I guess i have to wait some more.

So I repaired my ALTA hot side boost tube on Louise today. It's was rubbing on a heat dissipation coil bracket which is mounted to the back of the fan shroud housing. I again used the wide natural rubber electrical wrap. I then used black zip-ties to cover the electrical tape. It is the same repair I did on the ALTA cold side to intake boost tube that was rubbing against a bolt head on the valve cover.

Also the heat dissipation coil bracket appeared to be broken and loose so I zip-tied it back to the fan shroud assembly.

So is is another opinion about the oil catch can:

At almost 46,000 miles there was no detectable oil residue in the hot side boost tube coming off of the turbo.

IMHO, with no neglicable amount of oil residue coming in from the inlet boost tube, which has a feed feeds off of the valve cover, it is worthless to mount the oil catch can where recommended.

The oil catch can should be mounted where the PCV valve hose comes off of the valve cover.

Additionally, this also indicates that there is no significant oil blowing by the turbo bearings.

The pictures are below:

This is what the boost tube is/was rubbing against:

Here is the damage to the ALTA hot side boost tube:

Some people say that I will never get the money out of my MINI that I have put into it. I say, "I get my money's worth everytime I hit the ignition button".

I just replaced my cold with NM-Engineering hard pipe and I also had a hole rubbing in my ALTA Tube. The inlet hose also had a hole being rubbed in from the coolant bottle.

I have a new, unused hot side hard pipe Exhaust Depot boost tube for sale. With this mandrel bent hard tube, there will be no more need to worry about abrasions in the hot side tube.

PM me if interested

Hey guys, checked my tubes today and found a pretty easy fix for some if the rubbing issues. I just grabbed a couple of the old hose clamps from the OEM setup and wrapped the tubes where there was rubbing. On the small rubs the metal from the clamps protect the tubes and hopefully the clamp can seal up any small perforation. Hopefully it holds out.

I put a dab of silicone bathroom sealant under the clamp, just in case. Helps hold the clamp in place as well.

I came across this product.

Thermo-Tec Thermo-Shield Hose & Wire Protectant Tape

This may help in the areas where the hoses rub. Any Thoughts?
