Hey guys!
We have the exhaust done! It fits with both OEM, and RR downpipes. The system is completely bolt on no cutting required! It is extremely straight with very limited mandrel bends. I will post pics of it when we finish welding it all together. It is tac welded right now.
Like I said in my introduction to this community we value/apply the community feedback. So help us decide which muffler you would like used. Now please realize the pics shown below are mufflers we have used in the past. The tips can be changed bigger smaller etc...We are focusing on the muffler body for now. We recently made a change in our muffler design in the BMW community since we were tired of seeing the same exact round muffler with all cars. So we figured why not do the same in this community. The black octagon shaped mufflers can be in a mirror polish or coated as you see in the pics, and vise versa. The muffler in the pics is a little warped since it was a prototype first one we made. So don't worry about that either. What we are looking for is yes on round or yes on octagon. Thank you!
Are we really concerned with the style of the muffler? I care about performance first and then style becomes secondary. These boxy mufflers are new to me! As far as the tips go, I like them around 4" on the MCS and very "aggressive" looking. The angled cut is a step in the right direction, but some artistic innovation would be interesting to see.
Sounds great. But you aren't seriously trying to compare the sound of the M3's V8 to the Mini?
Oh yeah, and the bigger the tips the better!
No not trying to compare in any way. Just giving you an idea of how our exhausts sound when we are done. We make sure they all sound flawless. There were many tweaks made on the internals of that muffler to get the perfect M3 note. We will do the same with the MINI

We are a performance first company. That is a straight through in and out muffler. There is not chamber or restriction at all. We had the feedback from forum member "M3THIS" to go with the biggest tips, and will follow the slant cut design as well
I’m curious as to what data made your team conclude to go with 3” instead of 2.5” for the entire turbo-back exhaust system. Was the 3” causing something such as the exhaust temperature to go down creating a more dense flow in the pipe in turn causing some restriction? There is something counter-intuitive to it for me since in school we learned that bigger pipes give larger flow, but that was mostly working with liquids. Gases work in mysterious ways! I know the previous generation had 2.5” exhausts dominate the market and cars such as the Mitsubishi Evo have 2.5” too. Can you explain this a bit better to us? Oh yea, please don’t put a mid section resonator in the exhaust!
Where does it say RR was planning on a 3" catback? I could of sworn I read somewhere they were considering a 2.75" catback because of the inside diameter of the downpipe but am not sure what they concluded.
Anyways, I vote for the oval polished one since I'm in Cali and looks the most OEM.

Great question! There are a lot of things that determine the exhaust piping we run. To be honest its always PER APPLICATION. What your looking out of your car/ low end/ top end etc...(realize we need to choose something that is the best possible for the everyday client. That usually will have a tune/intake/downpipe/exhaust basically minor bolt ons.)
Now there is always the "bigger the better" theory out there. This is not always the case, and I'll give you an example. When we first made the N54 downpipes we made a full 3 inch downpipe with a full 3 inch exhaust. This was absolute overkill. We made less power, the car ran poorly, and sounded horrible. We then made a 3 inch downpipe that tapered right at the end to 2.5 to mate up too all the other aftermarket/OEM exhausts. This was a huge improvement. It ran stronger, sounded great, and best of all fit with everything! (keep in mind each one of these downpipe versions we made. We sent to Vishnu/BMS for tons of dynos/testing) Durning this testing we realized we were leaving power on the table. The problem was that the 3 inch to an abrupt taper at 2.5 was causing back pressure. So our team came up with the current solution which was 3 inch / 2.75 / 2.5 SLOW TAPER. This was the home run. We got fluid flow, and the high horsepower records you see on the N54s now.
The first downpipe we started making for the MINI was 3 inch (since there is no true 3 inch downpipe on the market.) This downpipe in our opinion was the same issue we had with the N54 overkill. We then went with a 2.5 downpipe that would have very limited mandrel bends starting at 2.5 and ending at 2.5 with our exhaust system. During testing the 2.5 felt much better both down low & up top.
Exhaust is going to flow at its lowest point. This is the reason you use mandrel bends opposed to crush bends. No abruption is caused. This is also why you try to limit the bends as much as possible. I hope this answers your questions. Thanks!
Third party independent dyno is the only thing that would cause me to consider this but somehow there is always a reason why it can't be done.
All of our products are always 3rd party dyno. I agree with you 100% this is how all products should be tested. So you don't run into the high claim HP numbers by companies to then find out you make no place near those numbers. All of our products that currently hold horsepower records were done by ACUTAL clients. Not just tuners. This is 100% 3rd party, and that's the way it should always be
My suggestion. When our products are in full release the community pick somebody, and each company send the products to them and let the best team win

Please see above post for the answer to your question. PS thank you for the feedback on the muffler. We may just offer both options. Thank you!
Great answer Riss team. Definite answer. We appreciate your lengthy testing instead of relying on shear marketing force. You already have many of us bookmarking this page!

I have held off on buying a full system to finish off my factory JCW until you have completed your exhaust. Your BMW systems are pieces of art!
Hope you ship to Australia!
The most important thing to me is sound. Happy to sacrifice a couple all out loud HP for a non boomy purr and growl. I have seen too many exhaust systems for all different cars that have chased absolute HP without real regard to sound quality. With a little development time and thought those same systems could have been made to sound beautiful while loosing very few HP.
To me you can't feel a couple HP but you certainly have to always hear an overly loud note.
The shape of the muffler does not really fuss me, its great looking tips which excite me.

Thank you for the positive feedback! We put a lot of effort into our exhausts to get the correct note for each car. We ship worldwide, and have MANY clients in AUS running our BMW products
We will be making some adjustments to fit good sized tips with the correct slant cut. We will be running sections on the exhaust so you can swap from a resi to a catted section to a catless section very easily! Similar to what we did with the M3 Exhaust Link here: http://rissracing.com/alpha/?page_id...&product_id=26
Is there a performance/weight/sound/cost advantage to the design?
I like something different. Not sure I will buy it if there are not other tangible advantages of the design.
The main advantage is being able to have a multi function exhaust as you can see by my post above. You will be able to run catless for track. Then simply bolt on your resi or catted piece for street. The sound as anal as we are will be amazing, and we always focus on performance first!
