Aftermarket replacement for hydraulic motor mount?

The hydraulic motor mount (passanger side) on my 2006 MCS has started to leak at 30,000 miles. I know I can get it replaced under warranty but that is a pain for me because the dealer is 2 hours away and I suspect the new mount will start leaking in another 20,000 miles or so. Thus, I would like to fix the problem not just put another leaky prone mount on the car.

Does any aftermarket company make a motor mount to replace the stock hydraulic mount with something more durable like a rubber mount? I have searched through the NAM threads but can not find anything. I know there are various additional stabilizers that can be added to supplement the stock mount, such as VIP or TSW, but I want to replace the stock mount not add a stabilizer. I have read that the hydraulic mounts still end up leaking even with an additional stabilizer. I would like something like the VIP stabilizer but that replaces the entire stock hydraulic mount. Even if a rubber mount tears apart after 30,000 miles or so that would still be better than replacing a leaky hydraulic motor that pucks fluid all over the car.

Some NAMers have mentioned using the older style (04) motor mount with poly bushings instead of replacing the hydraulic. I have replaced mine once(hydraulic), and I hear they last between 25 to 30k. If I can dig something up on a replacement I will post it here...

Here is the stocker: http://www.germanautoparts.com/beta/...E2/145/6271933

I think the replacement parts the dealers are using is a "new & improved" version of the mount that came on the cars from the factory.

If you read through the posts here on NAM, there are countless people that have had to replace the mount once (often with only a few thousand miles on the car), but there are only a handful of posters that have had to replace them twice, which makes me think the replacement parts are doing a better job than the original ones.

One of my friends from school just had the mount in his 2005 replaced a few weeks ago, and both my 2006 and my wife's 2006 are having their mounts replaced this week.

Maybe if a survey was done we could see if your theory rings true. I think people are just putting up with the fact that they need to be replaced. Most replacements mentioned have been done on warranty. It would be a bigger deal if people were out of pocket.

Currently as far as I know there is no one producing a replacement. I have heard in the grapevine there is one in the design stage.

I can confirm that AXC and TSW are working on a replacement unit. More details to come after some testing in Oct.

Great news. I guess I will get mine replaced under warranty (or just eat the money and do it myself rather than hassle with the dealership) and wait for the aftermarket unit to come out. Hopefully before my second hydraulic mount will last until a good aftermarket replacement is available.

I'd sure like to see this thingy--as anyone with an 05 or 06 is just waiting for theirs to blow. It's a matter of time.

That would be impossible since usually a cigar is in hand and a beer in the other.

Doc we'll have to try and get you to TSW World HQ when you here to meet Scott and Jeff.

Well, it looks like you are going to have a choice of replacements.

Theoretical BS has been debated... Drawings are done (including castings)... materials are ordered and prototyping will be in process very shortly.

Oh, and Nate was right - stog in one hand, beer in the other...

Now that would be cool!! I can show them where I've hit my X-Brace going over speed bumps... Actually that sucker would lift the car before denting. Gotta love it!

We are pretty far along with this one - I really enjoyed the design process this time around. The drawings came together for me without too much brain strain. We'll get this built and tested ASAP.

This is the third generation of our prototype. I have about about 1000 miles on this mount and about 10k for all three. There is very little vibration increase, if any, and it hasn't needed an engine damper for spirited driving. It's going to manufacturing soon.

How exciting! Maybe someone will buy both and test them...so that we can see which one is better. No really, the idea that there are different ways to achieve a similar goal doesn't surprise me. I'm glad that there is at least ONE alternative to that OEM POS.

thanks!

Any update from TXWERKS or SRTech on the new engine mounts?
How is testing going?
When will they be on sale?

Not yet. I have about 16k miles on the mount and there are a couple of issues that need attention along with the manufacturing issues. No ETA as of now.
