Alta CAI /DDM CAI (street) height?

Hi,

I am waiting to receive a preorder from M7 for the strut tower brace. I was told from them that the OEM version of their brace will clear the Alta CAI.

After reading several threads, looks to me that I would choose the DDM CAI street version to save a little money. My concern is that in the pictures it looks to be taller the the alta? is this true?

I just want to make sure that the strut brace clears it. I know it is impossible to know 100% until i receive the actual part from M7. If anyone knows any info on this it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Jason

You may want to wait on the DDM Works strut brace. They have a pre-order section on their website. It would certainly clear their intake. It should be out any day.

Not sure what you mean? forgive me , highest point the DDM cai or Alta?

- does the DDM sit as high or higher then the Alta?

I might think about getting the DDM Strut instead, not a bad idea, does it also protect from the strut tower mushrooming?

thanks

Jason

Just so you know I just put my DDM street intake up in the market section.
Had it less than 1000 miles, perfectly clean, sounds unbelievable.
But when I just recently had the jcw system installed, I went ahead and put the jcw intake on, and I really love them both, but I just don't need 2 intakes for one car.

PM me if you're interested in a deal !

And when I did have it on, depending on the strut tower brace, I'd say it would clear most of them.. It sat relatively low in the engine, and seemed slightly even lower than the stock r56 box that it initially replaced.

MOTOR ON!

Sorry, i was referring to the DDM Street. I don't know how high the Alta one is, but iirc, the ALTA has a rounded top vs DDMs verticle box. What will fit depends on where the bar transverses the engine bay in relation to the intake box/part/etc.

gosh, i hate when people post good deals RIGHT after i buy things =[

But i have a ddm street with the jcw strut and it clears it b/c the intake is sort of behind the strut if that makes any sense. No idea on alta, but ive seen that it works from online pics!

go od luck

Hey Jason,

Waiting on a unit to arrive from Shelly at m7 right now. I will be trying it on our JCW car, as well as the cars with our intake systems on them. I will post pics ASAP! Thank you!

Alta is best. it sits nice low and you can hear it suck air. Tell you what and this is aCHEEZY analogy!!!! but when you hit he gas and you hear it gasp for air and it goes schwoooosh it sounds like an Olympic swimmer surfacing from a half pool length sprint! LOL
