M7 Paddle shifter install

Installed the M7 paddle shifter system this week.

Its quite a job, installing it is the easy part but wiring and programing the shift box is a Big PITA!

I spent hours on the phone with peter, nardo, and shelly (thanks for the thin mints ) and as always they were a big help. M7 has by far the best tech support I have had form anyone.

Anyone who is interested in buying this system, I would recommend having it installed by someone who knows what they are doing and knows MINIs.

As for the system it self, its amazing once i got all the bugs worked out it shifts like a dream.

I will post pics soon, and if any one has any questions fire away.

Eddie...

Thank you, we really do try hard working with our customers.
On Monday Joel and Nardo will make a how to program the "Box" video
this will go a long ways to make the install a breeze...

Here are some pics of the (almost) finished product.

If you look at the mounting of the rear brace, I trimmed and mounted the brace under the seat catch instead of over to keep it functional and avoid using excessive spacers.

Will post pics taken during the install on 6/9

Also I will have this car at MINI takes the states Miami if any one wants to go for a ride

Good stuff there Eddie and Lisa!

Is there a shift program yet for double clutch downshifting?

But...but...it allows you to STACK shifts (you can even do a 4-2 downshift...amazing)!!...and it says...M7!!! Oh, and it has that handy built-in "safety" feature that requires one to push in his clutch....BAM!!!! it's unbelieveable

You, sir, are just out of the loop.

I did not dump anything on the OP. I am offering a commentary on the product. That's what we're here for. Honesty is a good thing, folks, even if it may be a little tough to swallow at times.

A few thousand $$$ for a box that moves the shifter for you does little for you unless you cannot figure out how to navigate the gates yourself. Factor in 6k for install and you're out 9k. That's more than 3/4 of the way to buying a fully blueprinted and assembled 2.0l R53 stroker motor from Jan. Tell me, which mod is going to make you fastest? My suspicion is the motor will, not the fancy pseudo-sequential M7 shifter. For R56's, you can buy every go-fast mod available and end up faster for less coin.

6K was this fully installed price, including the parts.

M7 Said many times this is not a mod for everyone even those that can drop 6K.

JIMINNI, the moderating staff did see the sarcasm in the previous posts and the fact they were trying to be funny. The humor was lost on you. oh well. Not everything is an attack.

Ok, now the can of worms is open, I can ask,

Doesn't Mini already sell the Cooper with an automatic?
