Maybe its too soon , but here it goes
Is there will be an easier upgrade path for R56 JCW stage II owners ?
Since it has forged pistons, head, gearbox and clutch, bigger IC etc.
I really think you should work out some simple and strong upgrade for 2008+ JCW owners.

What ever happened with this kit?!?!!??!?!!?!?!?!?

Ide get this kit, not sure how much of its potential you can use, What does the stock block hold?
Yea well I probably would too seeing as its the only bigger turbo kit that anyone has tried.
They never talk about it or give us updates so I guess that says something...its a shame, because they could have a real winner on their hands. Even if they were unsuccessful, they should still come on and tell us what went wrong and why. They hyped it up in the begining and then nothing.
I'm thinking the block can handle a decent amount, but the compression ratio would need to be lowered before you get to wild...in my opinion at least.

What is the compression ratio. usually most boosted cars from teh factory come out at about 8:1 or so.
Some times its hard to sell a full bolt on kit to just anyone. Its easier to sell it to an educated customer who has experience tuning etc but to some one who knows little aobut turbos etc and is going only off of an instruction sheet it can get dangerious. Just forgetting to install a simple vaccum line on the waste gate will cause the car to go boom. However an experienced customer will know to watch the boost and let go of the gas as soon as it goes x psi above y etc.

Yep it would normally be but in this one its 10.5:1

Wow! What were they thinkin? The celica GTs is 11:1 on an N/A and thats high compression for an N/A car but thats how it makes its power.
To run a bigger turbo on this ride with that compression you for sure need to have some control of the timing to be able to back it off for sure!
They can get away with the high compression ratio, and leaner than normal air/fuels because the motor is Directly Injected.
I'm pretty certain the Audi 2.0T direct injection motor runs 10.5:1 as well, and that motor is also boosted. Many modified ones are getting away with running pretty big numbers though.
There is a reason MINI lowered the compression ratio on the upcoming JCW car though....
I really wish Alta would give us more info on this kit!!!!!!! Like detailed, play by play, information. Sharing their whole experience with it. Normally they are really good about that, so I don't know where they are with this.

It's actually 11.5:1 had one on a Matrix XRS boosted it also... they can make 300whp on stock pistons above that just swap some forged pistons low comp, up the boost and 400-500...

OK fine!! Geeze!
Well we have been really busy lately and have been dealing with engine managment things. At this point, the only reason why we havent' released it is because of engine managment. We have had great sucess with the Unichip on certain cars, and then some with not so good sucess. This huge swing of differences is something we are working through right now. If we release our kit and have half of them working great, and half with some issues, the customer can't just pop the chip off and go about their way. So for us, we are getting the Unichip things sorted so we can feel 100% confident about shipping a turbo kit someone can bolt on and gain 40WHP.

Yup, high compression isn't a bad thing for turbocharging, its just the stock pistons are normally not very strong so they get a bad name for not working. I too did a turbokit on a Toyota motor (not in a Toyota) and it held 265WHP no problem.

R56~
We'll buy one off your turbo kit without engine management system right now.
Its for racing purpose and we'll handle our own management either using Haltech, Fcon Vpro, Motec anything suited for the purpose.
If you do sell your turbo upgrade kit, please send an invoice to 4poweraxel@gmail.com

I am serious!
Seriously the most difficult task here is the engine management & tune. The parts all can be found on the open market, cept an adapter to mate the tturbo up to the manifold. I found the need to fab a roomier heat shield, but that may be easier to use M7's shield.
Alta in Oregon? I drove up from Diamond Bar, CA to Oregon once took me 19 hours one way in winter. Coming back took me 24hours, since I thought I made a short cut and turn out to be PCH passing villages with 35mph.
Is this thread dead in the water?
Turbo can be choose with anything, IHI, Garrett, Mitsu....or cheapest stock replacement to be use for twin or sequential turbo if there is room.
To fabricate setup with turbo already exist, its easy thing.
To find the limit of engine, you just have to break one till see how far it will go on engine dyno.
I don't want waste of any time, but I like to work with Alta package and find result.

E-mailed too, so hope to hear from Alta soon.
Definitely keep us all updated to the project!
We need more tuners doing things like you

I have all the components, but as I said the tune needs to be resolved, there really isn't a good tune for the R56 yet. Once I get Jace running with the minor mods I have, then I hope to work with whoever does that tune to go further.
Just so you know Adam, I have the latest gen 4 harness from unichip and there have been no problems at all with it. Will the Unichip work as the ecu tune option for your kit or would I have to get a whole different tune?
If someone is looking for R56 turbo upgrades, I would really sit back and wait. There are other vendors working on it and I know of one that has a direct bolt on replacement that is hot ! Looks OEM, fits inside the existing heat shield and so on ..... Turbo's are not something you want to rush into, do it wrong and it can have a very serious problem that no warranty is going to cover and the repairs will be very expensive.
