6 Speed Shifter Slop

My ,02 MCS 6 speed shifter is quit rubbery when trying to shift it into gear. Knowing nothing about the cable system and linkage, I wanted to ask if there is something that can be adjusted or done to tighten up the shifts? I don't want a short throw shifter. The throws are just fine. I just can't get a gear some times. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Best thing would be to replace the rubber bushings with metal ones. That gets rid of most of the vague feeling. Don't know where you're going to be able to get just metal shifter bushings though.

when I got a LOTF damper, I stopped missing shifts. I think the motor movement can make you miss some 1st-2nd shifts if running up to redline. it really helped my trans feel.

in my MCS, it takes quite an effort to get it into 5th gear, especially in low rpms, it sometimes stops halfway into the gate of 5th gear, but in high RPMS it works fine

bushing as well?

That almost sounds like an issue with the synchros in the transmission. Does it always do it or is it intermittent? Have you ever flushed/replaced the transmission fluid?

yup, already changed the tranny fluid, still the same feel

if it were the synchros, shouldn't there be a griding noise in high rpm and NOT low rpm? i have no grinding noise whatsoever though

in low rpm, i have to push the shifter to the rightmost (in a very conscious manner) then push it to 5th gear. it feels like something's getting in the way of the gate. when removing it from 5th gear (low rpm), it sometimes "sticks" (hard to remove from 5th gear)

i'm stumped
