Pics from Road Atlanta July 7-8 07

Spent the past weekend at the BMW CCA Peachtree Chapter's DE at Road Atlanta. The newly repaved 2.54-mile Grand Prix road course features 12 challenging turns with incredible elevation changes including an 11 story drop with a blind approach.

Some pictures from Saturday, Sundays will be arriving in a few weeks.

Coming up through the esses

Exiting Turn 5, top of the esses

Hitting the apex at 5

Headed uphill exiting Turn 6

Exiting Turn 10A, one of the slowest points on the track.

Turn 10B about to head uphill to the bridge.

Lining up to crest hill under the bridge

Cresting hill, about to drop 11 stories to off camber Turn 12. All you see in the distance is tree tops, from on track it looks like you are about to drive off the edge of the earth.

Hope top have more shots from other places on the track in the next set that is to be sent to me.

The above is only selected shots, for the full album please see http://picasaweb.google.com/gnatster/RoadAtlantaJuly07

Thanks nice track pictures

Wow, looks like a fun two days. Nice track with lots of challenges. How did the MINI perform on some of the fast sweepers?

Did I notice 3 people in the MINI in one shot or was that my tired old eyes?

Nice shots!

Now you've gone and made me even more sorry I had to cancel this one.

Noticed you're resting your arm on the windowsill at a particularly delicate part of the the rack.

Out cruising, eh?

Are you guys coming back in September?

There are not 3 people in the Mini, I have no back seat so that would be really hard to do.

Not resting the arm, I'm a big guy the arm ends up there looking like I'm just cruising around.

Don't think I'll be able to attend in Spet, have other dates locally and big club weekend social cruising event.

Just pulled the data from the G2X system and found some interesting things.

1st session was turning laps in the 2:10-2:08 range

Last session was turning laps in the 1:57-1:58 range

Best lap was a 1:56:216

Top Speed 127.46

Highest Lateral G 1.22 (turning)

Lowest Acel G -1.23 (braking)
