Wow, popular day for fun events
Zre - still thinking about the springs. But leaning towards them. Right now I am working on skiing stuff and haven't thought about car stuff. If you don't mind hanging on them for a bit, I'll let you know. And, sorry, but along with not thinking about the springs...I could do that this weekend.
And I just found out I have a leaking transmission/axial leak that needs to be fixed...ugh
But I guess this is what goes on when you do what we do.
BTY - has anyone seen this one:

I received a notification from LRP and responsed in kind by submitting a letter to the PZC. Sine I am also a member of my local PZC , I felt it should be stated that a PZC can not legislate but only enforce the ordinances of the town. Hopefully there were many other letters in support of the track, because it would be a great loss to the state to loose such an icon.
There was a meeting on Monday but I do not know what the result was.

Thanks for posting the article. Very interesting. I sent a few emails in support of LRP.
In Massachusetts, Palmer isn't complete and it's already under fire.

When you drive to Palmer, the nearby properties are loaded with lawn signs opposing the track.

And I LOVED that track!!! I don't have that much to compare it to - just a couple of legendary tracks in the area - but I thought that it has many of the great features of LRP and WGI, just MORE of them (except straights...), and in a tighter package. Lots of very challenging turns & combos that will keep you scratching your head for a while. I noted that the line appears to be a bit different for FWD vs RWD cars in a couple of turns too.
I'm not a big DE guy (yet), and I've never done anything like that in my Mini in the 7 years I've owned it (just tearing up public roads), but I think it's fair to say that I've caught the bug (already upgrading brakes for next year). I was AMAZED at how good that car is at tearing up that rollercoaster of a track, and with just the most basic mods! CCA doesn't do enough DEs, so I will likely backfill my need for speed with SCDA days at LRP and and PMSP.
If you see a Chili Red R53 MCS with a checkered flag roof (you can't miss me...), stop by to say Hi!

I was up there for the Oct 17-18 BMW CCA CVC/Patroon DE event (my first track event in my MCS!) and didn't see any anti-track lawn signs or other activity. In fact, one local (wearing a Mini hat) stopped by to check out the scene, and came meandering through the paddock to talk to me and the other Mini driver there. I even took the guy out in my car for the mid-day "cold track" (under 50 mph) track tour drive. He LOVED it.

Welcome to the crazy and additive world of DE and to our little group
Glad you enjoyed your first time out in your MINI. There have been a lot of good things said about Palmer. But there are still some details that need to be worked out. So, it seems that it is a work in progress that is headed in the right direction. That is good to know. I am looking forward to going there next season. Also glad to hear that there seems to be little general opposition to the track. I would guess that with Palmer and LRP this is probably a case of a few little Napoleans that wouldn't agree with anything or ideas that they themselves didn't put into place. The truth is that these tracks bring big money into an area and if a place like LRP were to close it would be an economic disaster for the area.
The BMWCCA Chapters seem to run the best events for overall safety, control of what is going on on the track and for education. SCDA is a little more on the side of letting people run around the track. I have seen much less in the way of track problems with the BMW people than SCDA. On the other hand, you won't make it to solo driving quite as quickly with BMW (in looking back at it, I would say that is not a bad thing). But that is not to say that I won't go with SCDA, it is that I go with a different mind set and mentally prepared for the differences.
Can you say a little more about yourself and car? Track driving experience? What area you live in? Miles on your car? What brake mod you did? Other mods? Would you be interested in DEs at WGI?
Hope to meet up in the future.
