First experience with pc

First off I would like to thank Octane for the great video. I watched it last week and while using the pc I had the video for reference on the laptop in the garage. A must have for someone like me not familiar with the working of a pc.

There are still a few swirl marks but considering the time spent, about 4 hours from wash to tape removal, and being my first time. I'm happy with the results. Unexpected guests made the process something I had to do in the garage at night which is far from ideal lighting. So I only applied one coat of M80 and one coat of Tech Wax after I washed, clayed and taped the car Friday after work. For the most part, the goal of removing swirl marks and ghosting on the paint worked out well.

Here are some shots. The first showing the marks in the paint compared to the second. For some reason the picture came out a little different color but gives the general idea of how it turned out.

My little helper.

Good stuff SB

After doing a recent re-detail job on my SLK (by hand)...I think I need to get myself a PC. I guess there is only so much "elbow grease" you can do when applying Swirl, Amigo, and Epic to make the car look good again. It looks a lot better than before but I think by hand I'm not getting the full benefits of that mirror shine everyone gets when using their PC with the same products. I guess I'm gonna have to save up for the PC

Nice first PC

Great shine! I just finished my second PC job today. We took a little road trip from Minneapolis to Detroit, got dumped on by some last of the season snow...so I was due for a PC. The Octane guy video with Mike Phillips is the best. I actually marked my pads with a marker to see how fast they were turning! Anyway, same as you pretty much, strip all wax with a Dawn washing, then claybar, then M-83, the NXT. The MINI is a mirror! Motor on.

Excellent job! Especially considering it's your first time with the PC. So many people that have never watched my DVD have gone for years without success with the PC, and it all boils down to technique.

Just a minor correction, M80 Speed Glaze is a paint cleaner/polish that needs to be worked into the paint. It's not really a "coat" per se, as in you put it on, and it leaves protection or removes swirls. It's more of a "pass" than a "coat".

Next time when you have more time, a second or third pass will greatly diminish those remaining swirls!

Richard
