Uuuum, well.....I read that whole thread, and I did learn a *little* about shopvacs...
but strangely, I have this sudden urge to epoxy the garage floor, buy an insanely price but really cool red trashcan, and pimp my shop vac when I get it...
I love the fact it's not too big and can hang on a wall.....
I bought one of these bad boys.
Super quiet, super sucker....must keep little kids and small dogs away from hose. Well, not really. But it works great in the shop and does a great job in the garage.
Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. But I want to keep it that way. I'm afraid the chance of damage goes WAY up when you take the Dyson out to the garage!

hang ups are great for doing cars inside the garage, but when you're
doing cars out doors the long hose becomes a tad old.
the ones with casters are nice, but if you get a huge one (like over
6-7 gallons) it becomes cumbersome.
so i got a 5gallon craftsman one with various extensions.
i can do my cars inside the garage, also the ones out on the
driveway with no hassles. i think even the small 3gallon
one will do the trick just fine... and much more portable.
