303 Conditioner

I am sure that I am not the first one to do this but anyway...!

Yesterday I was washing Bertha and I noticed that the polish I had used before was leaving white streaks on the exterior vinyl.
I used the 303 conditioner that I use on my roof decal/stripes and windscreen wipers... it brought the black up beautifully... it is now gleaming, plus I have the protection factor too!

Just thought I'd share this info...

It does work well on the trim, but it will wash off in the rain.

There's Josh - raining on the parade again.
I agree though, the 303 won't last very long. I was hooked on the Zaino trim stuff until I found the Wizard. DP sells it and I use it for my trim and tires. Josh is thinking hard about testing it I can tell.

Thanks for all the advice... I do love Bertha looking shiny!

I was told by my vinyl guy that if you applied the 303 to the roof decal that it builds up each time to give you better protection... so, if it comes off the vinyl in the rain, will it also come off my decal? I was told I only needed to apply the 303 once a month, and as I am continually washing my car, should I just apply each time?

Any more advice on this?

From a protective standpoint, 303 Aerospace Protectant will last 30-45 days under average exposure to UV on interior dashes. You can extrapolate from there how long it might last on your exterior and per your wear & tear/washings. If you wash very frequently, I would apply it often.

I haven't found it to wash off completely after just one rain, but its effects are diminished after a rain.

Also, I would say that multiple applications of 303 overlap and help continue full protection, but I wouldn't term it that it "builds up" with multiple apps.

It will last a while on the interior, but the problem is it is water soluble so it will wash off on the exterior. So yes, you would need to re-apply every time you wash. Normally I would say don't worry about it as vinyl should be fine without it, but I will be removing my sunroof graphic in the next few weeks because it is so tattered. Then again, it is perforated, otherwise I think it would have held up much longer.

I have found that if you get white areas from polishes, that 303 or other trim dressings will make them go away, but they will return. You need to clean the polish off. Read the sticky about wax build up on wheel arches at the top of the forum page to learn how.

Thanks again for all of your advice.

Before I put the 303 on the arches I did wipe them down with rubbing alcohol so remove some of the smears. I will definately try the other products mentioned... OMG I am so becoming a 'detail freak'!

I will check out the other threads on detailing.

I will ensure that I apply the conditioner on the decal every time I wash my Mini. Mine is a 'solid' vinyl... I hope it lasts a long time, I paid enough for it!!!
