Prima Mystique

... am I using it right?

finally a break in the winter weather and 60 degree days (even as last week it was freezing and snowed some ), so I washed my MINI on Wed.

I used Prima Mystique for the first time. Used 2 oz. in an almost full 5 gallon bucket. I added it after filling with water and mixed it with my mitt. It did not seem terribly sudsy. Perhaps I should add when the bucket is halfway full... although I think it would be too sudsy then.

It did seem to wash pretty well, though, and almost seemed like it had some wax properties to it, because after rinsing sections off, the water seemed to bead and slide right off (of course this could be the Prima Epic and Hydro that have been put on previously).

Then I sprayed on Hydro and dried the car. I love this process. The only problem with Hydro is that I'm using it too fast!

Then I hit the black plastic with Nero. Sweet. And cleaned the windows with Clarity.

I didn't have time to spruce up the tires. They look terribly dull and gray.

Overall, though, I think it looks nice. Here are some pics:

Mini_Dreams - Mystique will not produce a lot of suds like other shampoos. Don't be concerned by this. What I usually do is fill half my 5 gallon bucket with very hot water from the sink, put my 2 oz of Mystique into it then fill the rest up with cold water from the outside tap. This mixes the temp and the Mystique the best for me. It will have at most an inch of suds on top but these quickly dissipate. Lubricity is what is important and that is very high with the Mystique. And you're right, it does add some shine to the car too.

Did you ever get around to doing your top with Epic? Could just be the angle but it looks as if your top has less shine than your bonnet does.

Your MINI looks like a dream!

MiniMaybee is right on!

Ditto to all of his comments re: suds, lubricity and the polymer bonus contained in Mystique. I only use cold water or whatever temp comes from the spigot, so the water temp can be whatever. It's up to you.

Comment about your Hydro use: Although I shouldn't say this because you'll buy more if you use too much and that's good for us, you may be using more than you need. Sure, the more you use the more protection you get to an extent, but you can also use it to the point of overkill. I generally use 1-2 spritzes per panel and that's all. I get great durability using this small amount, not to mention the same great gloss as if I used less. You certainly can't use too much, but why go through it so quickly? It's completely up to you, but Hydro is so concentrated you really don't need much.

Then again, what am I saying?!?! Use lots of Hydro and come back and buy lots more. Forget everything I said about using less.

Your car looks fabulous Mini_Dreams!! And you do it without a garage! Nice work.

Actually the top has Epic... it's the bonnet that never got Epic. it got a coat of NXT back in November and since then has gotten Slick and Hydro. So I guess I should give props to NXT. It has held up and given the bonnet a nice look. I still prefer Epic in the long run, though, because I find it easier to apply.

Good to know that Mystique isn't too sudsy. Just wanted to make sure I was using it correctly.

Oh man, that looks GREAT MiniDreams!

I get so jealous of you all with your dark cars... even tho my PW/B doesn't often show dirt, I just don't really ever get the satisfaction of that liquid shine look! I must say tho, that the Mystique/Epic/Hydro combo has given the PW more depth and shine than anything I'd tried before. I used my Slick for the first time today - I bought it before any other DP stuff but got sooo hooked on Hydro (love that stuff) that I'd never tried it yet. mmmm... shiny!

Slick is awesome as well. Perfect when used to clean up the car a little bit.
