Rachael Ray says to stop waxing you car...

I'm working from home today and was just turning off the TV.

A guy on rachel ray says to 'stop waxing your car, it only provides a miniscule amount of protection since modern clear coats are so advanced and protective.'

Riight, I wax my car *ONLY* for protection... nevermind the shine, oohs and ahhhs, and keeping my car detailed.

Just thought it was pretty funny... ... Then again, I dont know any NON MINI owners who detail their cars as much as we do...

Hey, I don't tell her how to cook a turkey, she shouldn't tell us detailing enthusiasts how to take care of a paintjob. ;)

Title is a bit misleading, she didn't say it some guest on her show did - just curious, any idea who he was/why he was on the show? I'm guessing he was on to give inane tips on car maintenance and such dumbed down for her perceived female audience/market group It is silly of course, beyond appearances and such a layer of wax at the very least makes the car easier to clean and does provide protection from bird doo and other contaminants that can errode or stain the clear coat.

Hmmm so because there is now more original protection a tested proctection method is no longer valid. That is the same philosophy as don't wear your seatbelt cause your car has airbags.

Some people use some scary logic, I'll take my extra protection yes it is MINIscule in comparison to a clear coat, but thats why I apply it regularly instead of once for the life of the car. Just like I clip my seatbelt on every time I drive instead of only right before the accident.

.
Or like don't use a condom because you stand in front of the microwave a lot. Keep in mind the same person that things not waxing their car is a good idea is the same type of person that would soley rely on the wax from the wands at the DIY car wash. With that in mind I'd say don't waste your money on that wax.
If you wanna hear a horror story, my mother constantly goads me for washing my car too much (I spray it off at least weekly and am constantly on bird dropping watch). Her philosophy is to wash the car every time she changes the smoke detector batteries and replaces her toothbrush, in October and April.

^^ Every time I see someone double post I'm reminded of the scene in the Matrix where Neo sees the same cat twice and says "whoa, deja vu".
So is Deviant deja vu like a repeat offender?

Maybe we could get Ray & DeLaurentiis to do a MINI car wash for all of us!

I'd like Emeril's take on a MINI wash... where exactly do I insert the "BAM!"

Or how about Iron Chef style... you only get one product and have to detail as thoroughly as possible.

Well, this guru would advise you to, "Wax on. Wax off."

No it doesn't much.....Rachel is so darned cute & man she can cook. Did I mention she's cute. I'd teach her how to suds it up & monster fluffy it dry. Then a real good waxing followed by buffing. I best lay of the Viagra.
