oh its 500 watts and it halogen (any pros and cons of halogens, except that they burn hot (which i like because its like a heat lamp for the waxes while its 22 ish degrees out now)).

yah, i got one of those. those are cool. like $10 and EXTREMELY bright.

the halogens are pretty cheap to replace. just be very gentle with it as
i found the ceramic cracks on the bulb easily...just from moving it around
the garage and bumping it a little.

it's not so rugged as it looks.

btw, there's a stand version with 2x the firing power for like $10 more...

i was thinking about getting those for my detailing after dusk firing into
the garage. i tend to loose the back illumination.

hmmm. good idea. i think i will go pick up a few of the smaller ones and see if i can mount them in my garage somehow. the only problems are the space, the lighting, and the water, and the heat too.

Yep, it sits kind of low, but it will work. 500 watts is plenty. I use two 250 watt lights and they work fine too, just put the 500 watt back. Too much light will overpower swirls and defects making them harder to see, and certain paints don't lend themselves to seeing swirls unless you light it in a dark room and then they pop out.

I usually try to stand it on a ladder from about 8 feet from where i am working, angled a bit down, and at about a 30 degree angle. makes it a bit hairy with the kayaks hanging in the garage, but nothing alittle painters tape (ok alot) can't fix.

I actually like the lamps closer--lower wattage--they I can use them as heaters when I'm working.

I've got 2 of that exact same light. They are great, but like Ken said, be gentle on the bulbs.

HAHAHAHA We IB lovers of the world are allowed to goof on each other, right?

That's precisely what I'm doing. I have OG's video on the way, as well as a PC and pads from DP. Some Prima products and then of course I will order some M80. I can't believe I'm even going down this road. My husband will probably say, "For that amount of money, you could have had your car detailed four times!" Although, I think doing this on the side for family and friends as I learn more could be fun, and perhaps I could eventually pay for my investment. Then I will want a paint thickness gauge and a water deionizer, and on, and on, and on......

i would highly recommend cancelling all of your orders. detailing is not a job, a hobby, or anything positive. it is a sickness. be prepared to only think about cars, detailing, and cleaning your microfibers.

but if you drink diet, you will loose a decent amount of weight from
just the exercise while keeping your mind on something other than food.

so it has some great sideeffects too.
