Argh. Cleaning up after the cupholder.

Yes, I know better. But I really needed some vitamin C this week and was drinking Orange juice and foollishly used the obnoxious cupholder to carry my beverage with no lid.

Wasn't feeling well, wasn't thinking clearly. Now to deal with it. I spilled some juice on my center panel and now the rocker switches don't "rock" without a stern depression. Is there an easy way to get rid of the hidden residue? Thanks.

I wouldn't say easy...

for the consol, take it out and put it in the dishwasher (after taking all the parts off it) I know that sounds wierd, but I just did it when I was doing some electrical stuff, and the console looks like new.

For the rockers, take out the rocker switch module (pull forward on central dash cover, undo down tube screws, take out downtubes, remove rocker module with a T-10- or T-15 torx driver...). The swich module comes apart real easy. Inside is the rockers, and a single circuit panal. Clean each switch, and you'll see what else the stuff got onto.

While it sounds like a pain, the work doesn't take long...... And it's not as hard as it sounds....

Try a propriatary brand switch cleaner. It won't hurt the plastic and will lift most residue.

Yeah..

but where will the residue go? It will go inside the switch assembly. Sticky gummy sugary bliss.....

Matt

a few years ago, lots of people were modding thier switch back to add the extra toggle. It really isn't hard to get the module out, and open it up.

It's from Mini2...

They have a GREAT how to section....

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...q_faq_interior

Changing the head unit gets you to the swith bank....
three little plastic tabs hold the front of the switch bank onto the body. Then everything comes apart.

The controller can be sure...

but I have no clue if you can take the face apart. I guess you'll find out and let us know!

xbook, maybe I wasn't clear in my description. That IS my problem. Rocker switches is what I was calling the "stuck" AC controls: airflow, power level, etc (they kind of rock). Oh yeah, now My auto AC dial is sticking a little too.

Thanks Dr Obnxs... Don't know if external use of a saturated q-tip with googone would hurt or do a bit of good. Yes, I know removing the cupholder would be the best place to start.
