Another Suburan/MINI question - cleaning pale gray carpet?

My Chevy as well as a collegue's MINI's light gray carpet is in need of some TLC. In my case, there's brownish stains on the carpet (possibly light rust/mud as well as everyday wear and tear from 6 kids) and on my buddy's MINI carpet it's mud/grime from overall use and soiled bicycle clothes. In both our cases, simply scrubbing with a towel and some OTC carpet cleaner has had minimal effect.

Can anyone share their pro carpet cleaning tricks? Any particular product(s) and/or technique(s) that you've found does the best job with getting out the grime?

Thanks in advance!

I really really love Griot's Interior Cleaner. It took crap (well not literally *crap*, but you know what I mean) out of my old car's seats, carpet, and headliner before I sold it. It was amazing.

Agree. Matt, do you know where you could find some of that stuff to try out?

I was just about to ask... I knew YOU would have some.

Is it just "spray on - wait - scrub off" or is there a better technique involving brushes, power tools and/or elves that visit in the dead of night?

You and power tools. You have become a PC junky. I am sure we could use it some how.

I normally just vacuum, spray it on, scrub it in with a brush, then vacuum again. That normally takes care of things.

You can also try 303 Carpet Cleaner. You can get it at a local retailer, instead of waiting for Griots to arrive.

I was wondering about the 303... I need a can of rag top cleaner anyway... have you used it, Dragonwang?

With the Griot's, I just sprayed, scrubbed, blotted, and then sorta fluffed the fibers back up and let it dry. I was really blown away at how well it worked. It also got some nasty finger/thumb prints off my headliner with almost zero effort. I sprayed a little on a MF, dabbed at the spot, and it came right up.

I know this piece of equipment is not in everyones home but try a vaporcleaner on carpet spots.
I have a Desidero in the garage, which is an extractor and a vapor cleaner in one. I also have a TR5 in my house. They clean using only heated, pressurized, water. (300 degrees F, 60 psi)

No damage from chemicals
No risk of ruining the carpet fibers with a brush
No risk of discoloration

Amazing results.

After trying various sprays and such, the best results I've had have been with this little $60-$80 Bissel cleaner. It's portable and uses hot water.

Matt I have an older version of the Bissell green machine. Works well for me. PM me if you'd like to borrow it. If you do I'll expect at least a dozen LED's on it when it comes back.
