Cleaning/Detailing Flat Black Paint

I many days past I had an Opel Manta with a flat black hood and trim. I don't recall what happened, but over time it started looking funky and I ended up having to wax it to even out the color--of course it was then no longer flat black, but rather glossy!

What is a nice way to clean/detail the flat black paint on my GP, that trims the bonnet scoop and tailgate? I figured with all of the new products out there, something might be appopriate. Thoughts?
Thanks much

Ok I'm having a brain fart. I was going over this in my head yesterday and then I see a post talking about it.

Flat Black means what?

Not Metallic?

Or is Flat Black another way of saying Matte Black?

I'm trying to imagine an auto paint that isn't glossy----something like Primer?

I haven't seen the paint on the GP that this post is referring to, but according to here:
http://www.opelclub.com/html/opel_manta.html

I'd have to say the Opel was painted with a single stage paint that when oxidized could look Matte if not taken care of.

I'll wait for more info. LOL

Richard

If I remember right...

The Manta had a black STICKER THAT COVERED THE HOOD. ( If you can believe that ). Anyway, it was certainly more 'flat' than the paint from the outset. I have always understood flat to mean dull, or primer-like. Matte probably is the same thing...
