wax applier tool
for a long time now i have used eagle 1 nanowax. it is a spray on wipe off wax and seems to work/protect well. i know its more of a temparary wax but i typically wash my car every week. at any rate, if i wanted to use some higher quality stuff, is there some kind of cool power buffer thing that wont grind through my paint? or am i destined to have a huge right arm and carple tunnel?

porter cable makes the most standard one. dont buy it at Home depot, it isnt the real thing longevity wise although it should work the same.
it is called a Random Orbital.
Griot's Garage sells them as well. This is considered by many to be a very fine product:
http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1004&SKU=10925
Octaneguy's posts explain the vast majority of how to use such a device. He also has a website: www.showcargarage.com where he sells a dvd of how to truly use the machine to both polish and wax.
I prefer no machines but then I am an odd bird.
All of it will grind though paint in a polish setting, thats what polish is doing, grinding of clear coats. You really should buy the dvd and look at showcargarage.com place if you are interested in that route.
There is a lot of stuff to read on thisforum about which wax and why, you should study all of that like I did before comming to a conclusion on what brand's system is best for you. Mine is Griot's. Octaneguy uses Meguiars NXT or pro-line. some people who like highest of gloss use Klasse or Zaino products. (i like colour depth and minimal gloss effect, so natural waxes are best for me like griot's)

Just to be clear (he asked about a wax APPLIER tool....not a wax removal tool)
I love how Zaino Z5 hides swirl marks and lasts for many months. We always get lots of compliments on our cars and I really don't spend much time on them.
1) Wash car normally
2) Use a terry cloth covered sponge applicator (available anywhere)
3) Wet the applicator slightly
4) Apply a nickle size dot of Zaino to applicator
5) "Paint" a section of your car with Zaino
6) Apply more Zaino to applicator
7) "Paint" another section of car
8) When you've covered the whole car with Zaino, let it dry for 30-60 minutes
9) Us a soft cotton towel to buff off the Zaino (this is really easy.....a buffer is way over kill in my opinion)
Takes me about 30 minutes to wash and wax, then another 10 minutes to buff off the dried wax. Easy! And you only have to do it about once every 3-6 months.

I use a metabo rotary, cyclo and a PC for polishing out imperfections.
For application of 90% of my waxes/sealants I use this battery powered little tool with a soft, grey pad (with no cutting action). I don't recommend using the foam pads in the box for wax application.
I know they are sold out, but you can probably do a search for the same unit. I saw one at Big Lots once for $25.
There are brand name versions of this tool that sell for a lot more than this one.
It will save you from major hand cramps.
If I didn't have one of these I would still use the PC, but I hate the cord.
