Waxing ... vinyl decals?

Hey guys, i tried a search but no go. I've been reading up on all the waxing information. (I love this forum!) . and so far I've got my Turtle Wax ICE wax, Turtle wax detailer spray, some microfiber towels, and the foam applicator which came with the wax. I skipped out on the painter's blue tape for the black plastic parts because theres that one thread about ICE how it doesn't leave white residue? This is going to be my first time waxing my car. I recently put a John Cooper signature decal on my vinyl silver swoop stripe. I know that people just wax right over their vinyl stripes but what about small writing decals like the signature?

I actually put that signature there to cover up a dirtly little stain that wouldn't go away. Stain was due to the washer nozzle leaking, the dealer wouldn't replace the stripe but MINI USA contacted me about it so I don't know whats going to happen. I have my second signature decal anyway .

Oh so should I wax right over this signature like anything else? I know when I wash my car, I always do the "blotting" method over my motoring ID because I'm afraid to just swipe regularly. Should the same thing be done with wax? But wax needs to be "buffed" off right. what to do?

oh, another small thing. I noticed the day after i installed the signature decal there are a couple of air bubbles that i didn't get out around the center area where the masking tape was. Will these come out on their own after a while? Just pushing them out doesn't seem to work.

I wax over my stripes which are basically decals so you should be OK.

As for bubbles, if they're still there after a few days in the sun then they probably won't go away on their own. If you want, take a fine point like a sewing needle or a seamstress' pin (NOT a thumb tack or Xacto knife point!) and pop the center of the bubble, then push it down. The smaller the hole the better. That should do it...

I agree with ImagoX, a week or two in the sun should take of the small air bubbles. Thanks for letting me know it was safe to wax over the decals. I have a clear bra and have been hesitant to wax over it. Will hit it with the P21s next time I wax.

i would be very gentle waxing over signature decals, but i would wax it.

as far as clearbra, wax it. ive always waxed my Xpel and the manufacturer
even recommends it.

Definitely wax the decals. It will preserve the color and keep the
vinyl from deteriorating. I have graphics over the majority of my car,
including the rear windows which have been on for over three years.
The color still matches perfectly. Make sure you use a wax that does
not leave a white residue - it's a pain to get off along the edges of the
graphics. Your choice of ICE should be fine - I've heard it seems to be
good stuff. I use P21S pure carnauba wax which I am pleased with.
I did just recently purchase some Meguiars Showcar Glaze which I applied
to another showcar and that stuff is fantastic. The shine is incredible.
Just remember to buff it off immediately - it's harder to get off if you let
it dry (but is advertised not to leave white residue). Top your wax off
with Pinnacle Crystal Mist spray wax (works like a quick-detailer) and
you will be amazed.
